Superformance Load Data

Anybody tested the superformance with a 50gr bullet? All Hornady offers in the load book is data for the 60 gr but they have 50 gr supereformance factory loaded ammo? makes no sense to me. I suppose i could just use the same data then work up but i am curious if anyone has had luck with superformance powder at the reloading bench/range. Thanks guys.

try this: load data
At any rate, most will agree that Superformance powder is just a joke in a can. Yep, it'll push a bullet, but there is always a better alternative that is more accurate.

This site doesn't list Superformance powder. I've been wanting to try it, just to see what it does. All rifles shoot differently with different powders, and who knows what the results will be.

I bought a can thinking I could duplicate a factory round but you can't. I think there were three combo's you could use but I didn't want any of the three. Took it back and got something else.

Yes, it does list Superformance powder, just probably not for what you are looking. Try looking up a 243 win and then argue.
It is a very limited use powder in loading data available. The big problem with this powder is a lack of consistency from one charge to the next. Hence the accuracy problem. If that didn't matter, benchresters would be loading with a lee dipper.

I have had good results with 70 to 80gr bullets in the .243 but if you are looking to use it in the .22-250 then I agree with above ...you are barking up the wrong tree. Actually I would not be surprised if the Leverevolution powder would not be more suitable and might be a very good powder since I know CFE223 works and they have similar burn rates. Just a thought.

Okay, didn't look that far. The original question was about load data for a 50 grain bullet, and I assumed he was talking about a 223 or maybe 22-250, and there is nothing about Superformance powder for either of those calibers.

In my 22-250 with 1x14 twist 26" barrel, CFE 223 and a 50 zmax has become my load of choice. A minimum load of 37g gives me 3,900 fps and shoots very good groups. Although I can get good accuracy with CFE 223 in 204, 223, and 243, I haven't found that excellent velocity and accuracy combination anywhere except 22-250 with CFE.

I haven't tried Superformance but it doesn't seem to be the answer for most people who have tried.

wow, thanks everybody. I should have posted my question before i bought a pound. I have been happy with H380 in my 22-250 but felt like attempting to beat that load.

I have had the suspicion that it was not literally the same powder they loads in the factory ammo anyway. i disassembled a superformance round as well as a leverevolution round from my .35 Rem. and the powder charge in them does not make sense when you compare it to the load data i have found. The .35 factory leverevolution 200gr. bullet has 39 grains of LVR powder and has a velocity of 2150 from my gun yet the load data lists a couple more grains at the same velocity.

Thanks-will probably stick with H-380.
