Has anyone been watching Swamp People? I've been watching reruns the last couple days on History. It's a decent show, I like it pretty well. I think of y'all every they shoot a gator with a .17 HMR or a .22!

I really like swamp people. It's a very well done show. After the first season you sort of feel like you know the guys personally. Glad the new season is starting. As for axe men, I just can't watch it, what a bunch of whiny aholes. I can tell you if I ever worked for some of those guys I would be quickly fired. I'd knock one of those bossmen on their whiny [beeep] real quick.

All I know is if I was that kid on the river diving for logs I would be knocking my dad out daily.

I love the show. They look like the kind of folks I'd hang out with anyway. Sometimes I feel like a misplaced Cajun. I love me some mud bugs, catfish, Jambalaya, low country boil, sac-au-lait(crappie), frog legs, and fried alligator. I'd love to go to one of Bruce's family spreads and have a few cold ones and eat some of the goods they fix up.
 
Love the show! Troy and his son are my kind of people. I laugh every time I hear him say "shoodum Lidabit" ("shoot him Elizabeth" for those of you that don't watch the show).

Yep, Troy yelling "Choot em, choot em!" cracks me up. He reminds me of Justin Wilson, the cajun chef. Those boats Bruce's brother Mike makes are pretty dang sweet. I want one for fishing in!

Ugh, those guys make me wretch. I don't watch the show much except for the parts with Shelby or whenever Browning Logging used to be on. Every other "team" treats each other like dirt and ain't fit to watch on TV, let alone run a logging company.

Also, the Swamp Men is a great show. It shows how good ol' hard work can make for a great living.

Also, I'd love to have one of the boats Bruce's Brother makes. One of those would be a duck hunting machine!!

When his dog "West Coast Willy" got sick and had to go to the vet he told the vet his dog doesn't get fed. He eats whatever he can find.

Yeah, that was funny. The look on the vets face was priceless.
 
I like the show, but my problem with it is that they ALWAYS exaggerate the size of the alligators.

They show them fighting a 7 foot alligator that might weigh 100 pounds and the commentator says it is 600 pounds.

I have personally helped boat and weigh alligators that were 11 to 12 foot long that didn't go much over 400 pounds.

I can also tell you that you just grap a 600 pound alligator by the snout and pull him into the boat.

Ever try and load a 150 pound hog in the back of the truck by yourself? Now think about that and trying to load 400 plus pounds into a boat that is moving and you are having to lean over the side.

A lot of what they do is "made for tv", but it works I guess.

Miners that haven't a clue about MSHA regulations then televise it.

If anyone ran a mine in wyoming like they do they would be shut down and fined millions of dollars.
heck if we got caught 6' off the ground without a harniss it would have costed my company 250k and that was OSHA.
MSHA IS MUCH TOUGHER THEN THAT!

Watch closely and you will notice that they often show someone holding several different rifles all on the same kill shot. One minute its an old beat up bolt 22 with open sights. Next its a semi with a scope or even a mini14.

Yep, I have seen that several times. Once it was a bolt action Marlin, the next shot it was a lever action and it was supposed to be the same alligator.

Plus all that jerking around they do to get the alligator to roll and jump around above the water. That is strictly for video. If you were really doing it, you would raise them up slowly and pop them in the head.
