Got the new Swarovski scope today and mounted it on my AR. It is a 5-24X52 Z5 with fine crosshair reticle. Just looking out the window with it and I am very impressed. Crystal clear for sure. It almost seems like with the clarity, you don't need as much magnification to see well. It's a keeper. I can't wait to get it on some groundhogs this weekend.
Well D_Bell and I went out Sunday for some chuck shooting. I tried out the new scope and I am thoroughly impressed. Unbelieveably clear and easy to pick out targets way out there. D_Bell outshot me with his new .223 AI, but it was still tons of fun. The scope has just the right range of magnification for varmints for me and the clarity to back it up. The crosshairs are the fine duplex and are extremely thin. I wondered if I would like it out in the field being as thin as they are. After doing some shooting, I wouldn't have it any other way. On deer or coyotes, I don't think they are bold enough, but on longer range varmints, they are just right. Going to be awful tough to go back to the optics I had before. Here's a pic of what we wound up with at the end of the day. There are a couple that we didn't go get, but we took a couple shotguns for a little pigeon safari and found some groundhogs and ground squirrels.
Good investment as Swarovski has a great warranty and customer service, only second to Leupold.
You will soon find yourself shopping for a rifle for your scopes as opposed to a scope for your rifle.
I have the 6x18x50 Swaro on my Rem 700 22-250 and you are buying the finest optics on the planet. I will admit I never looked thru a NightForce but I'd be willing to bet I am still correct in my statement. They are just a tad expensive....and I don't think I can afford to buy another....but I'll make this one last til I croak.

I looked through a NightForce 5.5-22 and a Leupold Mark 4 the other day. The eye box on the Nightforce is the best I've seen. No chasing the black blob around at any magnification. The Leupold was nice and I do like the TMR reticle, but it wasn't on the same level as the Nightforce with the eyebox and finish. The Swarovski is the most clear out the three. If I were a knob cranker or long range guy, I think the Nightforce owns that arena hands down. For the hunting I do, the Swaro meets my needs just fine.
Maniac: Any shots 50 yards or more are fairly easy to see the hits. Anything over 100 yards you get to watch the whole show.
