Swift, cheetah, or 22-243

+1
That is EXACTLY what I was thinking !

Simply because neither are a Swift.

I've got a 22-243Win and really like it. Just a coyote gun on a Savage action.

The 80gr VLD is a little too long to feed well out of the staggered feed short action. What I do "if" calling I load one manually into chamber and drop another into the top of the mag. Hold down with finger and close bolt on the chambered cartridge. The problem feeding is only when the cartridge is coming from the far side of the mag so loading this way I'm ok and still get a 2 shot repeater.

It's easy to make, easy to shoot, fun to shoot and that's enough to keep me going. I'm sure all of them would be a blast to have. Good luck

22-6mm would be better.
6mm Rem would be the best.

The only way any of these choices is "better" is by going "heavy" on bullets, that requires a fast twist tube, and then becomes very specific to long range and low shot count. Think about it: 22-243 with 80gr bullet, running 3400 fps [Long barrel, 28-32"] with a b.c of .450 vs. a 6mm Rem with a 80gr bullet running 3500fps [24" tube] with a b.c of .400.

Songdogsniper......I just got my 22-243 Winchester shooting really well. Like under 1/2 inch at 200 yards. Built it from a Mauser 98. 1-9 twist tube, wished I would have gotten a 1-8. OH Well, anyways i'm shooting 75gr. Hornady A-Max, RL-25, just under 3400fps. Is what i'm saying is it shoots REALLY GOOD. I now have over 150 rounds and wanna shoot it more every time I pull the trigger.....DO your research on the 22-243 Winchester, 22-243 Winchester Ackley Improved, And the 22-243 Winchester Middlestead. Between the three there is a difference. Not much but there is a difference. Dies are available at Midwayusa.com, at $142.99. The reasing I went with the 22-243 Winchester is because of the ease of reloading. Set up the dies normally, lube regular .243 winchester brass run the brass in the neck-sizing die and you done. Prime,powder,bullet.....Next. Just Google that caliber (22-243 Winchester) 1000's of information...Good Luck

Oh i forgot to tell you that I am using a Shilen 1-9 twist 26 inch tube....Don't go under that finished length for this caliber..If you need the midwayusa part number let me know..Also, IFFFFF you want to shoot the heavier bullets like the 75 amax you should go with a 1-8 or faster..

I like the way you think! Because they are not a .220 Swift. That, gentlemen, says it all.
