T/C Contender problem.

I think the extractor may be bent. When loading a round, I have to shove it past the extractor. To remove the cartridge. I have to use a dowel rod and shove it past the extractor. The extractor is very tight against the case. It also leave scratches on the case. Sound bent to all of you???

PS Just bought the T/C today. If it matters, its a pistol.

Brand new Hornady ammo. When loading a round, you can see the case rubbing on the extractor. It will extract the shell but won't clear the extractor without using a dowel to push it past.

I had about 10 tc encore & contender barrels and never had a problem with them. tried one bergara barrel in 223rem and had to use a dremel tool on the extractor to solve the problem. spike

I'm wondering if the extractor/ejector is bent. I've has several Contender/encores but never had this problem. Going to see if I can pull it this evening and see if there's a problem there.

Thats a possibility. Pistol is super clean, sure it will be a simple fix. When I figure out the problem. LOL

Good news. Extractor was slightly bent. I didn't even have to remove it. A couple of light taps wit a brass punch and a small hammer and all it happy. Now to get to the range. By the way, Its a 35 Remington with a Super 14 barrel. Should be a hammer!!

I have shot a pickup truck and traler load of deer with that exact set up. I have used the sierra accuracy load of 39.0 grains of H322 a federal 215 primer and a 200 grain round nose to kill white tails out to 200 yards. I have also killed deer withb 158 and 180 grain jacketed hollow points from my Father in Laws 35rem. Try to neck size or your brass is only good for 4 shots. When you can see a ring form about an inch above the rim in the web area toss it out. You bought the perfect hunting handgun. Wear ear protection or you will have Tenitis.

Right now, I just bought a box of factory Hornady 200 grain leverevolution. I'll have to hit the local reloading store to see what I can come up with. Can't wait till the week end to shoot this little bad boy. Sports a 4 power Tasco right now but I'm thinking something better in the future. Just not sure what. Suggestions???

I put several thousand rounds through mine with a tasco 3x. Yours should hold for quite a while. For factory ammo 200 grain RN corelokts and 150 grain pointed soft point corelokts worked well for deer and hogs. Dad loaded the 150 exclusively for his un5il remington quit offering it as a component. Pachmayer decelerator gripper grips help with control and look good. Good steel rings with plenty of loc tite on the base screws will hold it down. My gun has a 2x burris now that I am happy with. The higher the magnification the smaller the fov. My 35 tought me that I dont need a lot of power.

Sorry if I am over stepping. This is the set up that hooked me on handgun hunting.

Years ago, to many, I had a Contender with the 14" barrel in 35 Remmy. Some where through the years we parted company and I always sorta regretted selling it. When this one came around, I felt the need to snag it. I'm really not sure about the scope though. The FOV is really small so I am thinking about a lower power rifle scope. Need to see if the recoil is going to be to much with my face in line with a rifle scope. Don't really need a shiner.
