T/C Omega or Triumph?

Looking to buy a new muzzeloader, and I have narrowed my choice to either the T/C Omega or Triumph. Right now I am leaning towards the Omega, but I really like the looks of the speed breech option with the Triumph. Is it as good as advertised? I'm looking for opinions on both as I try to determine if the Triumph is worth the extra money.

I can only comment on the omega. I have had mine for quite a few years now, shot alot of deer with it. It is very accurate, deadly on deer, never failed me yet. I used to get that little fouling ring from the 777 and hot primers, but have switched to the ones made for the muzzleloaders and that is a done deal now. never was a problem when hunting, only when target shooting and firing alot of rounds without cleaning. Its one of the guns I will never part with. I really can't think of any other inline I would want.

x2 ........ love mine ....... absolutely dead nutz on out to 300 ........ got a Leupold Ultimate Slam on mine it's a gem .... I'm shooting 3 charges of 50/50 triple 7 powder and a 250 grain shockwave .......

I agree with Panhead - Omega all the way. I'll never need another inline. 100% reliable, and very accurate with 295 grain Powerbelt HP's. I do like the looks of the new Speedbreech, but I'm not givin' up my Omega.

I got one of the first Omegas when they came out. It's a great gun that will shoot anything well with the right powder/charge.With light charges it even shoots PRB's pretty well.I mounted a Leupold VXI 2-7 in Leupolds QD rings/base.This makes washing her down much easier.

Thanks for the replies. With a few good reviews on each, my decision isn't getting any easier. I welcome any other opinions.

Omega. I have one of the first ones out. Using 150g grains of 777 and a 300g TC shock wave it shoots a three shot group that you can cover up with a quarter at a hundred yards. The same load shoots a 1 and 5/8" group at two hundred and a four inch group at 300 yards. At 350 yards the group opens up to 12". I have shot a nine deer with it and one fox.

Make mine Omega!! I bet 150grs. of 777 and a 300gr. pill will rock your socks!!! Sure hate to be on the receiving end of that! I shoot 100grs. of 777 and a 250 shock wave and its as accurate as most centerfire rifles. I sold my encore and bought the Omega and put the rest of the $$ in my pocket. Never regretted it.

OK ......... I already replied to this but feel I should add something ..........

I have both ........ until the newly designed Bone Collector came out I was a dedicated and loyal fan of my Omega ........ I do not ever sell guns ......... once they mine they stay in the family ........ that being said I will probably never shoot my Omega ever again ............. unless something really drastic happens to my Bone Collector ........

I won't get rid of the Omega ......... but it will be a hand me down to the boys for sure ........

The 300 grainers have been burning right through deer without alot of kenetic energy transfer. Most run a good 60 plus yards before expiring. Except for the double I head shot shot last season. Both DRT'd on the spot.

The proof is in the pudding:

The one on the left was shot at 10 yards. The bullet entered between the ears and exited out the back of the head. The other deer never left the scene and was shot around 50 yards a minute and a half later. The bullet on this one entered the lower jaw and contionued traveling through the neck. Neither flinched.

I have shot both of them and liked each one but I ended up buying an Encore and am glad that I did, now a new rifle caliber is only a barrel away.
I wish mine had the speed breech but I can settle for what it is.

I went from heavy Encore to Omega to Triumph. Light weight with speed breach is the ticket. Shoot 3 pellets under a 250 Shock Wave and you have an incredible package. Did I say light weight and easy to carry?

I just got a Triumph Bone Collector last year. I had an Encore which is an awesome rifle but it was a pain to shoot at the range having to break the gun down for cleaning was tedious at best. The speed breech on the Triumph is awesome when it comes to quick cleaning at the range. Makes shooting and cleaning much faster. The rifle is extremely light but those energy burners really absorb the recoil. I shoot 3 pellets of 777 and the kick is not really bad and the rifle shoots great. I'd spend a few extra bucks now on a triumph you'll be happy in the long run.

Omega or a

sorry just don't like the feel of the triumphs .

NO NEED to Break the Encore down !! ???

Just clean the barrel , open the breech , remove the breech plug ,clean the breech plug Add little teflon tape ( keeps all the treads clean ) on the breech plug threads , and its easy as pie . No harder than a omega or any other muzzy with out a speed breech . Even with no speed breech it takes 30 seconds to get a breech plug out , just don't get all the fuss over the speed breech , you only take it out once after every range session and not every shot . I guess it nice to save 25 seconds every now and then .

I think the Omega is the best bang for the buck IMO !! I got a Omega for my son at wal mart in 2006 (at close out) for 109.00 and a friend got one this year for 150 .00 . Even at full price at 280.00 -290.00 ( around here ) is a great deal .IMO

great way to keep the thread clean on all breech plugs !!
