T/C venture predator 22-250

Hello everyone! So I am trying to get consistent groups at 300 yards but cant achieve this past 100 yards. I was shooting winchester 55 grain ballistic tips and shooting very tight pattern. I was stoked and thought let just see how 200 yards is. When I shot 200 yards I couldn't even get a consistent pattern... I took my time shooting so as the barrel would not heat up. After being frustrated with 200 I went back to 100 yards and again awesome groups but at 200 yards I can get a "group". I tried 3 other brands of ammo and same thing... Anyone else have this issue? The only thing I could think of is that its my vortex 3.5x10x50mm diamondback scope? Parallax is set to 100 yards??
anyone help?

You may be on to something with the parallax at 300.
Try carefully placing your eye position in the exact center of the scope picture for each shot.
Not easily done, but adjust eye relief first until the picture just fills the scope tube, and then center your eye in that picture, for every shot at 300.
Also, as the eye is moved sideways, the vertical reticle line will move right/left vs target, try to settle in on the center of the right/left.

Or, to prove the gun/bullet combination, use another (good)scope with parallax adjustment.
It should prove you have a good combo.

Since this happens with 4 different brands of ammo, I'd agree with a parallax issue.

Try a different scope and tighten the mounts while your at it.

I have the TC Icon in 243, and it shoots very, very well.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Anyone have suggestions on a good optic for hunting yotes at about 300 yards max? I thought I would give vortex a try but obviously not liking it to much at the moment.. Should have stayed with Leupold i guess.

Depends on the money you want to dish out. I'm a firm believer in getting what you pay for, but good glass is really important on shooting 300 yards plus. Most my rifles scopes have leupold vx2 in 4-12x40 AO.And one is on my tc venture 22-250. My favorite gun by far for the money. Mine likes 50gr a little better for groups, so been reloading for the 50g more than 55's.

I'd agree. I bought one for a coyote rifle 5-6 years ago, but found it was not quite bright enough for my very low light hunts, so I put it on a big game rifle. Works great for that application.

My first prerequisite in buying a scope is that it MUST have AO. For
those who say it takes too much time to adjust in hunting situations
apparently like taking that 2d shot.

to that, i say this.

to those who say you have time to jack with ao in most coyote calling situations apparently have not been calling coyotes for very long.

and no, i do not need 2nd or 3rd shots. unless there is 2 or 3 coyotes. lol

Let us know how the vortex did or whatever you decided or found out on accuracy

Thanks for the feedback gents I will be working for the next couple weeks but I will give an update so as I go out next time with the same scope or a new one!
