Tactical Vest Guys

When I go to my local public desert "gun range" I often see adult males wearing tactical vests with magazine pouches, sidearms attached with molle belts, tactical tan boots, shooting their single tactical sling AR's at homemade target stands.

Why are they doing this? My two assumptions, both of which are unacceptable to a hunter, "one who actually kills stuff", are:

A: They are children trapped in men's bodies who never played war, or built tiger cages for their GI Joes, had fights with bottle rockets/bb guns, shot whistle pigs/sparrows/robins/cats/et al. Or even touched guns/hunted before their 20's.

B: They actually think the disintegration of our government or the Zombpocalypse is among us and they are practicing for that moment. But if that moment does indeed arrive, I would think cardiovascular training would be more important than shooting man sized targets at 15 yards.

This is not a troll. Help me understand these F$ggots.

I can't really speak as to what goes on at "Public" ranges. I belong to a pretty exclusive private firearms range and training facility. Magazine pouches are required for anyone participating in a IPSC, PPC, 3 gun, or Practical rifle match.

It could very well be guard or reserve troops training on their own time prior to a deployment.

Off duty cops training for a qualification

or just fellow citizens out for a day of shooting or even practicing for a 3 gun or practical rifle match.

After reading your post one thing I think you should keep in mind is the 2nd Amendment was not included within the United States Constitution so you could go kill coyotes or deer. I think your energies would be better spent questioning the motives of those people wanting to usurp the Second Amendment than calling fellow gun owners faggots.

PS The first indicatation of trolling is when you state in your post that you are not trolling.

+1 However; at least the guys described here pay the $7 and go to the range.

Around here, we have a much greater issue; "The Tacti-cool Trash Shooting Mafia".

On any given day, just a stone throw from city limits these guys lower local ammo supplies by taking thier houshold trash and shooting at it as fast as they can till they are out of ammo or out of beer.

Then they leave all of their spent casing and trash "targets" where they fell. This happens over and over, every weekend of the year.

I know of whole areas (miles) that are completely destroyed by these clowns, and guess what? The public's perception is that trash shooters and ethical hunters are one in the same. GOOD JOB TRASH-SHOOTERS FOR GIVING THE ANTI'S MORE AMMO TO SHUT DOWN THE LAND THAT WE FOUGHT AND PAID FOR THE RIGHT TO HUNT ON!!!

A molle plate carrier works great for run and gun coyote hunting, holds your binocs, rangefinder, spare mag, calls, gps, camera, and anything else you may need and it's all at your fingertips. With molle system you chose where you place your equipment unlike the stereotypical turkey/predator vests.

I wouldnt mind having a vest with some sapi plates and a kevlar helmet or other armor when being around some of the idiots and mall ninjas I have seen at public ranges.

This is probably the first time I've agreed with MJ. Last month a friend of mine took me to a cowboy action shoot and I shot in it. It's not for me. It seems silly to dress up and play cowboy as a grown man. If I'm going to wear a costume somebody better be filling my bag with candy. Many people enjoy doing it and who am I to tell them otherwise. They like guns, I like guns. Some people like hunting big game, others like bird hunting. The more pro-gun people we have, the better our chances of keeping our gun rights.

With all those morons with AK's and AR's that shoot from the hip and even when they do shoot from the shoulder couldn't hit a bullet with a barn, I'd definitly wear my issued gear to the range. After being in the Army though I can definitly see a tactical vest as a good piece of equipment to hold all the little things you don't think about on your person at all times, that you would otherwise either lose out of your pocket or have to go into you pack for ever couple minutes. That and a Camelbak would be great for calling.

I apologize for calling douches faggots. That was childish. I usually leave all the mentioned items on the four wheeler. Can't really see myself getting into a survival situation 2 miles from the bike.

The Camelbak is a good idea. A camelbak full of rum and kool-aide.

If they were to spread all that garbage around, it might just look like what the brown tide leaves out there in the desert.

That garbage was spread around, several volunteer groups hauled off 20 TONS OF TRASH and then they went straight to local lawmakers with pictures and video of their good deeds as support to get public land shut down to hunting and shooting.

I'll be one of those "faggots" here pretty soon as I'm getting issued all new and different molle outer carry vest and two new sigs. I’ll pull the patches off when I’m out on the range by myself.
Best way to get familiar with it all? Go train at the range - someone will probably call me a faggot though. - oh well. I got thick skin and I'm used to people who've never met me not liking me.
When I got all that crap on I train so I know instinctively where everything is without looking down and fumble around - not good!

You're right Dude. You train the way you work so it's natural. Somehow I don't think anyone there with any sense will call you any names.

I get it.....If you're in the military or law enforcement. I guess my perspective is off. I shoot premium guns and ammo to kill. Not just shoot. There is a purpose behind my trigger. And it isn't just to get away from the wife and kids to try out my new tacti-cool vest and schniper pancths.

PS: Why do you hate kool-aide?

some people ride quads, others mtn bikes, I love to hike...the point is, some of us like different things. I have belonged to this sight for a long time and have always liked the fact that people come here to get sound advice...not to hate on others or how they do things. I tell my kids all the time that nobody is useless, you can always serve as the bad example. I don't care how you want to dress at the range, I do care if your shooting up my archery hunts and hiking grounds because you extra ammo and garbage to get rid of...and kool aide isnt really the problem...its the rum dude. Dont get my guns taken away...be careful because while you are trying to somehow belittle others....your looking like the bad example.

there sure is alot of trash shooters out here in az....i never have understood it, but about twice a month i head out, park, walk amongst the trash, set up my big cardbord box w/ targets taped to it, return to my table/bench, comence fire, pick up spent cases, retrive my box, head out and say to myself how hard was that.....

[beeep], what is up with the trolls coming to this sight.

BryanBY: WTH, you have been on this site for about a month and you already are acting like Mr.BIGSHOT, get some [beeep] respect for others, dont just start calling people faggots for shooting a differnt way then you. And really a camal-bak full of rum what kind of morron are you?

I can't imagine what it must be like dealing with that. It all stems with no responsibility for one's actions. Then sportsmen get blamed, but it's not sportsmen doing it. And alcohol probably enters into the situation a lot too. Alcohol, guns, and no regard for others is a bad mix.
