if u read in the azgf regs it says on coyote:unlimited.on "pursuit-only" no mammal should be taken

I believe they're talking about hunting with dogs. Guys will let their dogs chase (pursue) the animal then bay it. They'll stop the dogs short of actually killing the coyote. Dogs get experience, coyote lives to see another day.

I got no idea. I'm going off my limited knowledge of guys around here who use running/trailing/baying/treeing dogs. Here in NM, the NMDGF proclamation specifically states there is no "pursuit only or training" season. If you've got dogs out on something, they assume you mean to kill it. With coyotes, that's cool year 'round. Protected furbearers and lions, not so much; that needs to happen during their actual season.

"Pursuit Only Hunt: An individual participating in a “pursuit-only” season may use dogs to pursue
raccoons but shall not kill or capture the quarry as prescribed in R12-4-318."
The pursuit only hunt is referring to raccoons. You can also use dogs on coyotes.
