Tasco EXP anybody had a chance to look through one yet ?

Im putting together a "back-up" calling gun and the 5" eye-relief of the Tasco EXP 1.5-5 x 32/44(oval obj) caught my attention.

The gun will be a hardkicker and an increased scope-bite distance has significant appeal. This gun is inexpensive so I hate to put a "350$ Leupold or Nikon scope" on a "250$ gun". haha. However I dont want a scope I cant stand to use.

If any of you guys have had a chance to look through one of theses EXP scopes Id appreciate you input.

Thanks,
Robb

it says tasco so i would put it on any one of my guns. my new ruger m77 mark 2 all weather model is gonna wear a stainless tasco world class 3x9x40 on it. tascos may not be expensive but they have killed a lot of deer for me. to shoot good you dont need a 300 dollar scope.

For the money they appear to be a good choice. I've looked through them in low-light and they draw quite a bit of light.

Not a Leupold but for the money you probably can't go wrong.

I spoke with a guy at a local sporting goods store during deer season who was pissed off and returning his third one to the store and demanding his money back. He had his EXP's mounted on a Savage bolt rifle in .300 Winchester Magnum and said the recoil rattled them loose. On the second one as he was sighting it in the front lens flew completely out of the front of the objective bell housing. He took his money added a few bucks and bought a Leupold VX-II. I don't know the real deal becuase I'm just relating his story and you hear all sorts of things, but it might bear some research before plunking down the cash.

Failure is not an Option.

GC, thanks for relaying that experience. IF I still go with this scope, I will make sure I get it froma reputable dealer rather than cheapest Internet price.

The gun this is going on is an EAA Combo Gun (12g 3" over 6.5x55 Swede) and I hear its a real kicker with # 4buck.

I have Nikons and Leupolds already, but I dont want to spend that kind of money on a gun like this (250$ gun), so Im looking for some compromise, however, lenses falling out isnt something I can live with...

Anyone have comments on clarity and focus ?

Dude, time to go iron sights!!!!

Leave the glass at home??

(Any chance you can touch off both the Swede and the 12gauge at the same time?? Heh-heh! i thought that combo gun has two triggers.)

As far as clarity and focus, i found your post quite clear, and reasonably focused on your question.

Ooh thats a good price, i gotta admit.
not enough eye relief... big KICK !

Well gents, I think what Im going to do is just throw on a compact 4x32 scope I have laying around (even though I dont like it) and see how the gun performs, then if its worth getting a better scope, Ill work from there. Thanks guys !
