Anyone have any opinions on the Taurus Raging Bull. I looking at one in 454.
Any feedback positive or negative will be very helpful. Thanks
 
Hey-
I have a Raging Bull in .44 mag and its sweet-
8 3/8 inch barrel, SS ported rib barrel. The trigger on it is very crisp and light. The sights are very accurate. The grouping from a benchrest is 3 inches @100 yards. I use it for bear and deer, coyotes, pretty much whatever moves and it kills em good.
 
How long have you had it? The reason I'm asking is one gun shop told me basically the same thing you did, but another gun shop told me they don't hold up well. That kinda took me by surprise because the frame looks incredibly strong and the one I looked at had a very nice trigger, very crisp. Is yours scoped and are you shooting factory or handloads? I have had it since this august. I think that it would be very durable, and it has a lifetime warranty. I shoot factory ammo right now, but it can get kind of expensive so i might start reloading. I have a laser sight mounted on the trigger gaurd that is very accurate. I payed about 200 under the suggested retail from a dealer by me. I shoot a raging bull in 454 casull. mine has the 8 3/8 barrell. It is scoped with a fixed 4 power leupold. I have about 500-600 rounds though it. All factory. I get 2" groups at 50 yrds and 2 1/2" at 100 yrds with a very steady rest. It barks alot. Can not shoot it alot in one outing. It has more recoil than my T/C in 45/70. It is a blast to shoot though. I love large cal handguns. It does numbers on local yotes as well.
 
I just sold a 6.5" Raging Bull in .454. Why?, you may ask. Wans't shooting it any more and I wanted an Encore in a bad way. However, the Taurus is a good shooter. I never got around to mounting a scope, but it surely deserves one to get the most out of it. I found the perceived recoil of the .454 to be considerably less than a Ruger Vaquero I had in .44 Mag. I attribute this to the weight of the Taurus and the ported barrel. It does pack a pretty good wollop, but it is manageable if you are accustomed to the recoil of a large bore handgun already. Overall, I was very pleased with it and its performance. I had it for about three years and put about 300 rounds through it with no trouble. I would recommend the Taurus to anyone interested in a .454. Based on my experience, I don't think you would go wrong.
 
New to the board, but I did have one in the 6 1/2" barrel. When you shoot it make sure you have head phones on because these things are LOUD. If you hunt with it I would suggest the electronic headphones so you can hear and not have to mess with protection when the game is in front of you. In Iowa the ammo is around $25 for 20 Thanks
 
I have a RB in 454 with the 8 3/8 barrel. It is an awsome gun. I agree that it has less felt recoil than my old SUPER Black hawk in 44 mag. I have a TC 2.5x pistol scope on it. I have shot mine 500 rounds so far this year. I even used it at a bowling pin shoot once. It does mean things to bowling pins. I really like it. It could use a trigger job though. I get accuracy of around 2-2.5" at 50 yards and 3.5"-4" at 100 yards off a rest. I'm sure I could do better if I tried reloading for it but I've been shooting mainly Magtec 260gr sp loads becuase they are the cheapest and shoot almost as good as the expencive loads.
