Taurus

I wouldn't buy one just to try it out, resale is bad and you'll be wasting money that could be put to a better use. There's a million threads about problems with them, people are still curious based on the price. Kind of like asking "Is herpes really that bad?"

There are a lot of things that beat a lifetime warranty, even hipoint has one, for a reason. One of the things that beats a lifetime warranty is owning a firearm that I never expect to have to send in for service. Having a usable pistol the 5th time it come back from the factory isn't much of a selling point to me.

I have had my Taurus PT99AF 9mm since I was 21. After 15 years the locking block Broke. Called and ordered another one for around 25.00 and fixed it myself. Thats the only thing thats ever gone wrong with it.

Been carrying this guy for almost two years now. I added a set of Barami Hip Grips and it goes where I go ( I tried a Don Hume IWB.. huge POS). I also got a set of snap caps and try to snap most of the way to work every morning and it has really smoothed out the trigger group. I have put upwards of 1150 38 spcl and 357 mag through it and haven't had a hiccup or FTF yet. It is accurate enough that I am confident within the confines incountered in your average Stop-N-Rob or ATM kiosk.
I originaly bought this guy cause I am cash poor and couldn't afford a S&W with a shrouded hammer in 357 mag. I have a S&W model 49 that I love but I felt I needed a little more gun.
I love my 651

Man, I'm as American as anybody, but if all we ever bought was American products in America, we'd still be driving LTD's and Caprice's at 9 miles to the gallon that rust off the frame in a 100K miles and the motor's worn out by then too. Oh, that's right, they did offer the Vega and the Pinto - those rusted quickly too. Honda and Toyota were more hungry then, and redefined "American" cars and the market due to the fact that they wanted it more than we did at the time. Now everybody has 200K + cars and trucks, and they get double the fuel mileage. I feel we're going through another period like 1976 (or so) again now. A bunch of American co's & unions that got fat on the upswing in economy over the past 20 years or so, and now have trouble reconciling with less profit afterwards. No doubt, we'll survive, and persevere, but like our steel industry and auto industry, we give a bit away each time we refuse to change BEFORE we are forced to.

On the guns, to each his own, I'd own and do own some of most. I like quality, but with my business turning down lately, I'll likely sell some expensive one's, for ones that do the job, but might not look so pretty - kinda like a bunch of (not all) good wives. A functional Taurus would fit that bill vs. a S & W at 1.5x to twice the price, a Benelli-built and designed Stoeger, rather than my Benelli's (that'd be hard [beeep]!), etc. Dan Wesson, CZ, Benelli, FN, Glock, Beretta, Sako, Tikka, Weatherby's, Howa, Kreiger's, H & K, Sig, Mauser, Rizzinni, AyA, etc., etc., etc. If you prefer something else, ok, but come on man, we don't have it all, or know it all, and this country ain't the end of the Earth! We are the best country in my opinion, period, for a number of reasons, but we're far from perfect, and our largest strength may be in our ability to change and adopt the best from around us through our diversities. Our biggest weakness maybe when we refuse to do so even in the face of glaring evidence to the contrary.

On China, it's cheaper to buy Communism than to fight it. Notice how China now is concerned about the welfare of the American economy?? A few years ago they'd been laughing while we struggled as they weren't very connected to us. Now they like our dollars. Keep buying at Walmart. When I was young, it was Japan and the Phillipines and Taiwan. Next decade it'll be some other Asian country we haven't tapped for labor yet. We haven't even approached Africa or South America yet. When it's worthwhile, we'll set up schools there and then factories. For the most part, our kids don't want those jobs, and for the most part, we don't want our kids to have those jobs. We want our kids to succeed, whatever that means.

Obama?!?!?! I hope you and I never meet. You might as well have called my mother a bad name.......

Ozzy,
What semi-auto has Taurus ever made for the American military? THAT WOULD BE ABOUT % OF THE BERETTA 92F FOR THE MILITARY, THEY STILL HAVE THE TOOLING. GOOGLE

Tim of course I'll post pics if I get it.. but I haven't decided anything yet. Oh, and never sell a gun you can never have to many. I've only sold one in my life.. it's was a 30-30 Lever Action Win. I hated that gun!

T & Trashcan thank you, That is nice,,, please contine on with the actual reason for the post guys. Thanks

So, Taurus made U.S. military issue M9's on contract for our government? If so, that's a new one on me. I am aware Taurus makes a Beretta clone, but not that their Brazil made guns were ever contracted for our troops. That is interesting, are you sure about that?

I don't know
But as long as my firearms: regardless of who, when, & where it's made, will fire, not blow up in my hands, has accuracy to it...I will take care of control. That's pretty much what I require.

Dang it I was doing good up until I bought my XDM guess I don't pass the test! Dam US company's sending work overseas!!

Prairie Muffin, The way I see it if it fits your hand and it feels good then get it! I myself hate glocks they don't feel right in my hand. They are made overseas and a mighty fine pistol. Same goes for a Walther felt like I was holding a brick another fine pistol made overseas! Some S&W's felt almost like they would fall apart if I shot it, or the trigger would snap. Their M&P line is a different story felt great would buy one, as a matter of fact I have a hard time deciding on which to buy for my CCW a M&P subcompact or a Taurus mill. pro?

Bottom line is there is way too many great firearms! Buy what fits you and your price range! Don't listen to Woohoo I guess he never shops at Wal-mart either!!!

Oh yeah and fits in my hands.
I thought I was the only person who didn't like glocks. Same reason, they just feel funny in my hands.

As for this one, I think I am going to wait and see what I find later on. Thank you for all your answers, everyone
