Man, I'm as American as anybody, but if all we ever bought was American products in America, we'd still be driving LTD's and Caprice's at 9 miles to the gallon that rust off the frame in a 100K miles and the motor's worn out by then too. Oh, that's right, they did offer the Vega and the Pinto - those rusted quickly too. Honda and Toyota were more hungry then, and redefined "American" cars and the market due to the fact that they wanted it more than we did at the time. Now everybody has 200K + cars and trucks, and they get double the fuel mileage. I feel we're going through another period like 1976 (or so) again now. A bunch of American co's & unions that got fat on the upswing in economy over the past 20 years or so, and now have trouble reconciling with less profit afterwards. No doubt, we'll survive, and persevere, but like our steel industry and auto industry, we give a bit away each time we refuse to change BEFORE we are forced to.
On the guns, to each his own, I'd own and do own some of most. I like quality, but with my business turning down lately, I'll likely sell some expensive one's, for ones that do the job, but might not look so pretty - kinda like a bunch of (not all) good wives. A functional Taurus would fit that bill vs. a S & W at 1.5x to twice the price, a Benelli-built and designed Stoeger, rather than my Benelli's (that'd be hard [beeep]!), etc. Dan Wesson, CZ, Benelli, FN, Glock, Beretta, Sako, Tikka, Weatherby's, Howa, Kreiger's, H & K, Sig, Mauser, Rizzinni, AyA, etc., etc., etc. If you prefer something else, ok, but come on man, we don't have it all, or know it all, and this country ain't the end of the Earth! We are the best country in my opinion, period, for a number of reasons, but we're far from perfect, and our largest strength may be in our ability to change and adopt the best from around us through our diversities. Our biggest weakness maybe when we refuse to do so even in the face of glaring evidence to the contrary.
On China, it's cheaper to buy Communism than to fight it. Notice how China now is concerned about the welfare of the American economy?? A few years ago they'd been laughing while we struggled as they weren't very connected to us. Now they like our dollars. Keep buying at Walmart. When I was young, it was Japan and the Phillipines and Taiwan. Next decade it'll be some other Asian country we haven't tapped for labor yet. We haven't even approached Africa or South America yet. When it's worthwhile, we'll set up schools there and then factories. For the most part, our kids don't want those jobs, and for the most part, we don't want our kids to have those jobs. We want our kids to succeed, whatever that means.
Obama?!?!?! I hope you and I never meet. You might as well have called my mother a bad name.......
