tc100c2 850nm ir flashlight


Just received my second one in the mail today. It's a good IR light for the money. Even helps my Gen 1 scope. Tod is a good guy to deal with.

I think I have six of them now, one is not enough!!

LOL, I did talk to Todd and he now has more of the Phillips OSRAM IR LEDs in stock after being on backorder the last couple of months. THey run a loooong time on a single 18650.

With angel fire surefire bored 18650 housing from ebay, the torch pro can be converted to use the same batteries 18650 and should last even longer, just costs more$$$, but has focus.

There are numerous choices for heads and whatever type light you are looking for. Most are using it as an IR with the 3.4w emitter. It also has a high and low output mode.

I just got an email from illumination gear yesterday that they were back in stock so I would not wait too long place an order. You might want to order a pressure pad switch also.....I really like the design because it incorporates an on/off button on the cap along with the pad switch.

It is no comparison, the EagleTac is not focusable, the others are.

Check the "Kudos to TNVC thread" for comparison photos of videos of them that I did, it is all in there.

You are quite the innovator! I normally use the 18650's in all my stuff except the ones that only take CR123s. You can use rechargeables in any LED since they do not operate on one specific voltage, contrary to most thermal gear which does.

It is no comparison, the EagleTac is not focusable, the others are.

The problem with a non-focusable 3,400mW IR LED like this is extreme white out in the foreground due to lack of a lens to concentrate the beam.

The 600mW TNVC TorchPro, LDI DBAL-DR, and LDI SPIR LED IR Illuminators work much better since they are more concentrated through a lens system.

When we are out coyote or hog hunting at night, we ALWAYS take at least two EagleTac IRs with us as they are very powerful excellent IR flashlights. They are so good and such a good deal that everyone should have at least two of them on hand!

Remember to NOT shine these in someone's eyes AT ALL TIMES.
 
I also tried one of these units. They are very bright and powerful but as Skypup indicates they do not columate the beam very well. This causes the halo to reflect badly off of close up objects which feeds too much light back into the NV unit causing it to shut down. This is especially a problem when hunting in snow cover. When you see chicken wire like patterns in your NOD, you know it is way too bright!

They do make outstanding handheld scanning lights though and work well as helmet mounts when you are not in deep cover surrounded by objects.
 
I mounted one of these on my helmet and had the problem of it washing everything out up close. I resolved that by drilling a new hole and moving the back of my rail down about 1/2 of an inch which brought the beam up off the ground. now I would call it perfect. since I dedicated it to my helmet, I ordered a second one...

don't forget that this light has a high and a low setting. I leave mine on low, but can easily switch to high power if needed.
 
I also rigged it to push the rail out away from the helmet which allowed me to move the beam to the right to center it. drilling that hole was the best thing I did.

 
The Team Wendy helmet mount is kind of rounded some so I was able to place it onto the rail where it worked right on the money:

I have the G24 mount which attaches to the helmet locked in with the sliding bar. the bar that removes the mount just slides over and off comes the mount. the problem I was having is that it is just below the button you push to swivel the PVS to the up position. after a couple of times reaching for that button to swivel the PVS up, I would inadvertently press the latch and off comes the whole mount with PVS attached to mount.

so I took a 1/4 in. thick piece of scrap plexiglass and using a dremmel, cut a small piece of it off and trimmed it to tightly fit and sit on the top of the sliding latch to release the mount which prevents it from sliding if I accidentally push it. then I just tied a piece of paracord around it and tied a knot to prevent the plexiglass piece from falling out. no more standing there holding my mount in my hand by accident!

Thanks for that tip, ShurShot, I have the G-24 Wilcox mount on my other A-ALpha helmet and it is a great mount.

I so far have not had a problem with the sliding latch moving to the side and allowing the mount to disengage, but this is my spare backup helmet setup for me or the one I loan out to friends for their use, so it would be a good idea to keep people that are using it from dropping the NVD off the helmet....

One other tip for you is that I ordered the 1" thick Zorbium inserts from Team Wendy to fit into my A-Alpha helmet, my friend got same for his newer Bravo helmet and these are much more comfortable than the OEM internal cushions:
