Tell Me About The Sig 1911

I have both, a sig rev. and a kimber ultra cdp II. If I were only to keep one it would be the sig. mine is like an officer frame with a commander slide. may be a bit longer than the kimber, but it never fails to feed. the kimber is pretty good too, but not as good as the sig. I also have 7 other .45 auto pistols, mostly 1911's but also a glock, xd and a Kahr pm45.these 2 are my favorites. like I said, if it came down to only one, it would be the sig.

I think that the abbreviated versions of the 1911 are the ones that give the most trouble with reliability. Commander length slides are usually okay, but I did have problems with a Kimber Pro Carry II I owned a couple years ago.
If you stick with a full length, government model sized pistol, with the steel frame, it's going to do better (in my experience, anyway).
I've got two US Army 1911A1's from 1943 and 1944 (a Colt, and a Remington Rand), and neither has ever failed to feed or eject. The Rand has been shot at least 6000 times over the years... the Colt, about 700 to 1000 rounds... no failures, ever.
We blame a lot of failures on magazine issues, and that will cause problems for some pistol designs. But the 1911 is so well designed that it can use a mediocre magazine and still work well (not that you'd intentionally go with a cheap mag, just sayin'...
)...

Colt's 1911 began it all. Right now I currently own a S&W 1911 and it is solid, dependable and accurate as [beeep]. Carry it to all my coyote stands and have it everywhere I go. Unless you can find someone with a mint condition Colt 1911 then I would opt for a S&W 1911.

are custom guns. From all the problems I have seen with kimbers over the
last five years or more I would shy from them today. Sig builds some very
high quality guns. If their 1911's are a true clone I wouldn't hesitate. Their
pricing is in line with kimber. I don't know accuracy wise if they will hang with
an early kimber but my bet is they will. I wouldn't touch one if they jumped off
the wall and started screwing with the design like kimber did with their safety.
STI is one other company you might take a look at.

Somebody mentioned S&W 1911...and although I resisted admitting it at first...They are some very dependable and reliable pistols and all the one I've fired were quite accurate as well...Could be another consideration at that price point...
The Springfields are good pistols, I currently carry and compete with a TRP that is just friggin excellent..
For a carry gun (reliability a must) I woulnd't go shorter than a Commander sized gun...Unless you've got the means or access to a decent GS that can tune it for ya...

And now Remington is selling a full size 1911. Remington last made 1911s 91 years ago. It takes a good design to still be good enough to reintroduce after 91 years.

Have not shot the Sig, I did consider it before I bought my last 1911. Instead I bought a Kimber Ultra Carry II that’s worked well for me.
That said I’m not a beginner in the 1911 world and I take the time to make this pistol is lubed properly and has good magazines that I’ve personally tested.
If I was going out to buy another 1911 I’d seriously look at the SW line.
