Tell me about your CZ 527 varmint kevlar........

I had one that shot great like .5 for 5 shots with factory ammo, then one day for some reason it just would not shoot as good anymore, like 1 moa for 5 shots, I had the action skim bedded to the block, didn't change anything, its a light rifle for as heavy a barrel as it has, the stock came with a very very short LOP, from what I hear CZ back in czech messed up when they ordered these from HS and speced too short a LOP, didn't matter they sold the guns anyway with short stocks. for me a guy that likes a 14" LOP this is an issue. make darn sure to see which stock the gun has, the one I had had a like a 12.25 LOP which is rediculous.

personally i don't care for clip fed guns, I still can't get used to the safety, I still have a 527 carbine 223, but sold the kevlar varmint, I think tikkas require no tweaking out of the box, the trigger is simpler to adjust, I do think a CZ will shoot with a tikka but it may need a tweak or 2 to do so.

I have one and love it. I just took it to the gunshop on Sat and we checked the trigger poundage. 2.5 lbs normal 18 oz when I set the trigger. Can't beat that.

I shoot the .45 gr JHP out of mine and I can cover a 3 shot group with a quarter. That's factory ammo not handloaded.

Well i love mine. It is a shooter i have on several ocassions shot 4 shot groups that measured in the .3's with 50 grain vmaxes. I would say an average would be .5 to .75. The rifle fits me well and it has the best trigger that i own in a gun. Including the tikka t3's and accutrigger.
What i dont like is it seems to rust up fairly easily and the bolt lift hits the scope so i needed high rings.
I will try to post pics later.

The Kevlar CZ 527 has a 1-9 twist.
I have the CZ 527 American in 223 and it has a 1-12 twist.
I really know nothing else about the Kevlar model. But, with that twist, it has more flexibility than the 1-12 as you can shoot heavier bullets.
I've concentrated on bullets in the 50-52 grain weight class, and lighter.
One thing undeniable, and that is CZ rifles are accurate.
I had one in 222, and still have two CZ 452's, all shoot.
Here are a couple of targets I shot this past summer with my American 223. Mine is the Prestige Model with very good wood.

Edit to add: Those are 100 yards targets shot with a Weaver V-16 set at 16x.

Had one in 204. To say it was a shooter would be an understatement, and that was with Hornady Factory ammo. Killed a truckload or so of chucks with it and got bored and moved on to other guns. A buddy talked me out of it and I have kicked myself ever since. Nice, accurate rig for the $.

Well, it seems I have one ANIB on the way. Traded it for something that was collecting dust. Not the first time I have toyed with a CZ, so I pretty much know what to expect. I'll give my honest reviews of it when I get a chance. Not sure if I will keep it or not..........

Forgot to add, I also have some "budget" glass coming for it. A brand I have looked through many times, but never actually used. One that I've often thought may be a bargain in a cheaper priced scope. You don't hear about them much around here or anywhere else, but pretty much everybody has heard the name. Any guesses?

I like mine, its a vigin as far as yotes are concerned.
I have only punched paper with mine but she sure does shoot.
I have run bullets from 45 to 69 grains in mine and it shoots them all good, some better than others.Factory ammo.
I mounted an elite 4200 2.5 to 10 40mm objective in cz rings
and had no bolt handle clearance issues at all that others have had.
I like the gun and dont plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.
Oh by the way shes a .223

I have had a number of CZs mostly big ones .Smallest was a 300 Win Mag. . Now I have a 527 in 223 The Kevlar Varmint . I have been enjoying shooting it so much I haven,t really grouped it from the bench .....Big difference between the 458 Lott and the 223 .. .. The trigger on mine is perfect . Around 2 lb regular and around 16oz. when set .. I really like the detachable clip .. I can have a loaded clip in my pocket and an empty rifle on the seat ... It feeds great , doesn,t jam . The safety is a thing to remember .... I think of it as cocking the gun . Since I shoot single action revolvers plenty it is an easy thing for me to remember ... Mine has a 20" barrel now .... I did have to shim the bottom of the rings so the bolt handle wouldn't hit the eyepiece ...... It worked .... the HS Precision stock has a 13 1/4" lop . which is also perfect for me ... I like the Wuldhammer palm swell . I wish it had some kind of more skookum front sling swivel stud ..... I think it will be a less than inch rifle . But I think it will take me a while to wear it out , I,m enjoying it tremendously !!!!!!! Maybe I,ll get to kill a fox , ect. tomorrow .

I have a kevlar varmint 527 in 223, it is very accurate and a real pleasure to shoot. I didn't know what to think of the palm swell to start with but I really like it. I have several CZs and they are allaccurate enough for me . I guess you could say I am a CZ fan or Remington or Winchester or Browning, now that I think about it I like anything that is reasonably accurate.

WEAVER....

Nope. It is a brand I've never used. Weaver has Jap glass, and I've used a bunch of 'em. The company has been around a long time, but you don't hear much about them around here. Not Redfield. Have used those also. American made Schott glass. Has a nice ring to it. Hopefully it will be the bargain I'm thinking it is. If not, I'll just buy another Leupy, if I decide to keep the rifle. It is a new scope, going price is about $215 for a 4.5-14x44. I picked one up for $90 shipped......

yeah,i thot weaver used jap glass but meade still shows owning them unless website not current...i hav 4 or 5...well,lyman & B&L are gone...these are the ones left for me...bushnell,pentax,swift....you'll tell us eventually.
