For the 2006-2007 hunting season using any centerfire rifle cartridge is legal for big game. So that means we can carry our .204, 22-250 and .223 to the field during the firearm deer season.

Deer, Bear, Boar and Feral Hog Hunting
1. Shotguns using ammunition loaded with single solid
ball or rifled slugs. No restriction on number of
rounds in magazine.
2. Rifles using any center-fire ammunition, in all counties
except where regulated by legislative acts. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

At http://www.state.tn.us/twra/coyote.pdf the state as an interesting article on coyotes.

We (The Mid South Predator Callers Association) have been coming to the TWRA with this for some time now. We are VERY glad to see them take ours and many others consideration on the caliber restrictions. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Think of it this way guys... we could not use our 22 cal rifles in the last half of September, none of October, November, and December... then for the first half of January! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I haven't read closely all the data, but I assume that during the archery season I must still use a rimfire. The new hunting guide is available on the TWRA website.
