Terriers

I have a somewhat large (16LB) J.Russel Terrier that I think is getting bored running down squerrels and stray cats in the yard. He is only 1 Year old and fully trainable. What can I use him for? I'm thinking of useing him as a decoy dog but I'm afraid one scrap with a 45LB+ coyote would be the end of him. what can I do with him? As I said he is easily trained.

I have two Jack Russels and while they are scrappy little dogs they are no match for a coyote. Not even both of them. There are some pretty big coyotes in your neck of the woods to boot.

I've been trying to justify another dog but that's going to be a very hard sell with the better half.

I'd enjoy that JR and get a little bigger dog like a Mt. Cur for a decoy.

You near Lakawaxen?

I have 4 terriers. at least 2 of them go with me every time i leave. They are great truck partners!! every time i see a ground hog or squirrels I send them. All i have to do is say look and man they are looking for the game!!I go for walks they go with me. i ride the 4 wheeler they are with me. I spend a lot of time with my terriers and they mind very very well!!I dont ever need a lead for them.

broknaero,

Check your game laws in PA but if it's legal to go after raccoons in barns. If it is find yourself some barns with hay in the lofts and go at it. Most of them are coon haven and farmers will usually let you go after them with your dog. Get ready for fast action!

I just convinced my wife I need replacements for my two labs who are getting older. I still have to go to step two.... convincing here that I should buy a biitch and breed it to my dog, then keep two of the pups. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
