Hello everyone. Just looking into some local contests again, haven't heard any dates for sure. Hunts I'm looking for-Graham, Abilene, , Mineral Wells, Childress, Comanche, Strawn, Rising Star(?) or any others ya'll might know of in the North Central texas area.

Also, I heard Tarleton had one at Stephenville last year? Anyone get in that?

Any extra info as far as rules, entry fees, expected turnout, etc. would be helpful.
Thanks

I have heard that the Graham hunts are set for Jan. 8, Feb. 5 and Mar. 5.

I have not seen this officially, but one of my friends said he had heard those dates from someone else.

Looks like Comanche is having their hunt at the same time as Graham.. Hamilton is having one the next weekend, and Star arms at stephenville is having one the same weekend as hamilton...

i would like to know if anyone knows more about the stephenville tourny and mineral wells and strawn tournys. any other tournys anybody knows of. Thx.

Michael H we might have a team mate drop, so i might have to get it touch.

I looking for contest dates too, I think there was just one in Cleburne this past weekend, but any more information would be very helpful. Also if you know of the specific check in and out times.

I got this from the Texas Predator Posse forum...

Just called Star Arms in Stephenville, they are having theirs this Saturday (15th) to Sunday, check in 10am-noon Saturday weigh in Sunday I THINK at noon, but not sure on that. 25$ per man, 4 max. Coyote, Bobcat and Grey/Red Fox. Heavy animal pots for all and also coons, but no points on coons.
Anybody in their hunts last year and know anything about turnout? Gonna be cold this weekend, maybe it'll be a good hunt.

The last I heard the Abilene contest is this weekend (Jan. 15th & 16th). You can call North American Outfitters in Abilene to make sure. The dates posted above on the Graham hunt are correct. We hunted it this past weekend, but didn't do worth a flip so we never made it back to check in.

There's one going on in the East Texas area this coming weekend (14th - 16th) also. But has anyone heard anything about the Mineral Wells hunts that are normally held this time of year?

Thanks,
ScottD

I heard through the grapevine that the one in mineral wells isn't going on this year, but possibly someone else may keep it going, but don't known any more that that.

Star Arms (Between stephenville and dublin) is having a contest this weekend, I think check in is Sat at 12pm and check out is 12pm sunday, but you can go by and get a flyer and that's only surrounding counties allowed for hunting.

There is also one going on in Cleburne on the 4th of Feburary, but all the details on that one hasn't been ironed out yet.

If anyone knows of any more info about other contests nearby, especially Strawn, let it be known! Thanks

I heard that 6 bobcats and 2 coyotes won first place in the Graham contest. Didn't hear any other results.

Our team only shot four coyotes, so we did not go back to Graham.

6 cats and 2 coyotes is correct. We only had 2 coyotes and a cat. My dad's team won. No one i talked to had good luck with coyotes. The two we killed were the only two we saw. My dad's team only saw the two they killed. I think 2nd was 5 cats and 3 coyotes, then it dropped off pretty fast. They also had 2nd big cat.

Also the big dog weighed 41 lbs.

Everyone in our area had about the same results and they were not good.

We shot two coyotes before dark and two right before day light. We hunted hard between 1:30 am and 5:30 am and never saw one pair of eyes.

One of our dogs weighed 41 on my digital scales, guess we should have taken it. We killed both our coyotes the last two calls before dark. Cat at about midnight, and did not see another animal besides coons the rest of the night. My dad and his team killed three of there cats the first three calls they made sat. afternoon.

I hunt the Hamilton contest every month and it is the week after Comanche. Comanches hunt is the 5 Feb. and the Hamilton hunt is the 12 Feb. The dates are the same for March.
The Hamilton hunt had 3 dogs, 2 cats and 4 greys for 1st place. 15 teams and only about 6 dogs came in. I know that 6 greys and a cat did not place. The info on the Hamilton hunt earlier was very correct. So look back up the board for info.
