The bear whisperer tv show bear calling.

Anyone catch this show on the sportsman channel.

Today they were calling in problem black bears out of a pop up blind, using cub in distress call. Cool call but sounded like a Jack rabbit distress to me.

I would not want to bears out of a blind with the limited visibility.

The dude was full of bs about a bear turning into a killer of animals and they showed a dead cow moose they claimed was killed by the "killer bear" even though there was no sign if teeth, claws or wounds. Looked like a winter kill to me. The dude

I love calling bears so it was cool to see one called in on tv.

I can't watch hunting shows any more. Too much melodrama. The only difference between most hunting shows and Real Housewives is that there's less cussing on the hunting shows.

I saw it. Too many commercials and you'll have to tune in next week to see if he kills it or misses again. To much monologue and not enough hunting. I think I could come up with a show that has 5 minutes of actual hunting footage in a 30 minute program each week.

Its the ole adage since I can't say anything nice I won't say anything at all. Other than I will not be watching anymore of that show....

I agree the show is very poorly done, the guy talks a bunch of garbage, there is not enough hunting and they took the calling sequence and split it between two shows. He makes a bad miss on a bear at 20 yards, he is lucky for that. Otherwise he would have wounded the bear.

All I am saying is it was cool that he called in a bear, even called it back after the miss.

Besides the mid-life crisis host....I am wondering how they are getting around copyright laws seeing as how APL had a similar show with a guy named Steve Searles.

I LOVE getting jerked around and being forced to "tune in next week" to see the conclusion to a hunt that they could have easily fit into the same show. It makes me want to cancel my outdoor channels and take up golf.

If they're using normal TV show format there's 22 to 22 1/2 minutes of actual show (per half hour) and the rest is supposed to be paid for commercials. Trouble is this guy throws about five minutes of self aggrandizement into the 22 minutes that should have been show.

I too was wondering where the wounds were on the supposed bear kill. That moose didn't look like anything had bit it.

I saw the first show too. Same thing; a few seconds of real footage shown over and over again while he talks.

He seems to have some good footage (about 30 seconds per show) that he pads with yack and yammer. He'd do better to do like
Fred Eichler http://www.thesportsmanchannel.com/programming/descriptions/description.php?ID=330 (Predator Nation)
and
Les Johnson http://www.predatorquest.com/web/ (Predator Quest)
who adopt a friendly attitude and offer to share what they know without sounding like a blowhard.

Well I don't get that show, but do watch others. They all have to pay to produce them somehow. commercials are nothing new. Do you want to watch a hunting/fishing show or a reality show. They all have commercials.

It's like anything else on TV. some shows are better than others. Some NFL teams are better than others.

They may get better if you let the producers know what you like and what you don't like. One thing for sure they won't get better by bashing them on PM>

Hey All .. I am obviously new here. I don’t normally reply to these type threads to be honest as we do 13 TV Shows but some things need to be addressed.

1st Off we purposely hid any and all marks from the moose from TV. TSC does not like us showing it needlessly and frankly there was no need to.

Commercials – your right, we have no choice on how many and when commercials air.

I certainly do understand there was a ton of talking, it is almost ½ educational on calling spot and stalk and so on. We have got literally hundreds of comments on how people like that part of the show. We knew going into it some people wouldn’t like it and haters would arise in a hurry.

As far as the other bear whisp. on animal, WE have the trademark, the correct question is how did they use it …..

“A few seconds of real footage while he talked” … for the record it was 840 seconds of original no repeating footage.

The other just strait hater footage I will not comment on. I guess the bottom line is every show isn’t for everyone, and we have rules we have to abide by on TV. Emailing me direct would be a much better approach as I appreciate all criticism as it only makes our shows get better.

If anyone wants a link to a copy of the show, please PM I will send it to you.

Blaine

All to often, we are very quick to judge the efforts of others while making/producing the hunting shows that we all love to watch.

The time, energy, effort, and MONEY that goes into airing one of these shows is mind blowing.

While it is perfectly acceptable to have an opinion, it is not "good form" to publically bash anyone putting in the time to air one of these shows.

Let's try and be constructive with our comments, and as Blaine has clearly stated, if you have any "critiques" of the show, you can send him a private message.

As I've said before, my hat is off to anyone who air's one of these shows, because the work that goes into making them is staggering.

Thanks,

Jeff Mock

Blaine, the concept is great which is why most of us tuned in to begin with. But how about we tone down the off the field stuff a bit ? I mean if you're an MMA fan that's great...but 95% of us wouldn't wear it into the field to evaluate a kill. It seems theatrical.

The interviews...have a hard time seeing you with the shadowy effects and all.

But overall ,quit trying to dress it up....the audience that'll watch it has already done field time.

So,Jeff, a guy puts on a show that is publicaly viewed .... and we're to critique it in private.

Whatever.

i liked the show . i love my deer hunting but it gets boring to watch after all the shows do it and all they hunt is midwestern deer and trophy animals. i like shows that stray from the pack . an yes i will be tuning in to see what happens . by the way i have seen alot more shows that shouldnt be on tv but i wont bash them on here .

Why ? a conversation you had with a buddy shouldn't be hashed out here ...a hunting show with sponsors ? This is a perfect place.

I can agree with that.

If it was the greatest show on earth, we can talk about it.... but if there's a turd in the punchbowl we have to keep quiet?

Let's get real here.

Aaron Proffitt, Crazyhorse66,I gave an opinion, along with others here,Jeff gave his, Even Blaine Anthony signed up today to give his, so are you saying none of us are entitled to an opinion? Only yours is valid?? The only way to express an opinion is by bashing someone? Is that your message?

No one said you had to like the show or even watch it. It was only suggested that "bashing" this show or any show or product on the internet and particularly PM is not very productive.

Constructive criticism on the other hand is welcomed. That is how things get better. We not only expect you to express your opinion here on several subjects, we encourage it. We do not have to agree on anything, but it does show a lot about the opinion when the criticism is done with a hope that things improve instead of just a pile on.

Blaine invited anyone with some constructive criticism to email him. He's the guy can make some changes maybe.I doubt he's come on here and ask for your opinions if he didn't want to hear them or make the show better.

There are a lot of shows on TV that I can't be bothered to talk about let alone watch, so I guess I find it strange that when we have someone that goes to a lot of work and expense to support our sports with a hunting show, that we would simply try to bash them instead of supporting them with some ideas to make it better.

As I said I don't get that show in Alberta but I do more bear calling than most people do so I would sure like to be able to watch it. Who knows I may even have some ideas to make it better.
