The Best Electronic Caller!

SC: "Wiley, and Leonard, this is not a commercial, just an answer to a question asked. Just wanted to make that clear."

No problem Steve....and excellent answers they were.

I think this is a good thread as it discusses the pros and cons of electronic calls. I think it's important to talk about the pros and cons of any product.

Good job guys!

You say you "found a source for the remote". Tell me, I am not quite clear on this, you designed a remote from parts, not purchased via DK? If this is correct, let me know, also if you can share the vendor with me, I would like to DIY a remote for the JS 512. Electronics tech by trade so might be fun.

Safety,Ethics, Accuracy, Velocity, Energy-I am On the Way to the Arizona Predator Hunt!!!!!!

I'm in total agreement with Curt.Electronic callers are great and definitely have there place in predator calling. But if you become experienced with hand calls you will find them to be the best choice for calling, especially coyotes. They are light weight and many models you can make tons of different sounds, and like Curt said there are a few tricks to calling with hand calls that I too will take to the grave. It is all personal preference and you will just need to experiment until you find the one that affords the best quality for what you are willing to pay.Leonard,I too prefer the .270 for Deer.GOOD HUNTING

Another consideration that no one has touched on could relate to the particular animal you are hunting, and the game laws of your state. Where I live it is illegal to use an electronic caller to hunt any game animal or bird. That means no e-callers to attract bear, deer, turkeys, or anything else that is defined by the state Fish & Game Department as a game animal or bird. Mouth blown calls only!

Coyotes are defined here as non-game animals, and bobcats and fox are furbears. E-callers are legal to take them. Cougars are a different ball game all together, and may not be taken at all except in cases of depredation.

Now if you are calling strictly to the camera, with no firearm in your possession, you probably open up a whole new can of worms!

TackDriver,

do a search for Azden WLX-PRO or AZDEN Corp. The system I use is for video cameras (wireless microphone) It has a transmitter an a receiver. it would work on a JS system if you pug the receiver into the speaker you will need a 1/8 adapter an the transmitter hooked up to the cassette.

I looked and could not find the post I had given the sourse in, but if you look on the net you can find these units for around $140. they retail for over $200. The cable that is used from the sound sourse to the the transmitter is part of the antenna system so if you use a cable over a foot long you will have no problems.
It I tested it out to 200 yards.
