I had just sat down to begin calling when I saw movement to my right, and it was a coyote up and trotting straight away from me, at about 150yds. I normally don't shoot at running coyotes, but he was straight away and level to me, so I shot and killed him.
He had 4 legs, but one foot was severed at the first joint and had healed over. He had one broken canine and two canines were stubs, but he looked very well fed.
I suspect he was going to lay low and let me keep walking, but when I sat down, he decided that he needed to be elsewhere.
