Decided to head back to the Hooch for my trout fix. Left the house at 0329 and got back home at 2345…a long day.
Caught fish tight lining, under an indicator, on streamers, and got into a dry bite that evening! Just picking access locations on Trout Routes and spending a day at each one trying to learn all I can.
Actually caught more Rainbows than Browns on this trip and used my regular 5wt instead of the Euro set up.
I’ll head back up in 2 weeks and pick a different spot.

It bit HARD!
I’ll be back up there the 15th in a different area learning it. Shooting for more Browns than Rainbows on this next trip.
Wanting to learn now so come all those Spring and early Summer hatches I’ll be set. Had a small hatch that evening.
Just too cool to try different techniques. I go to learn and try something new each trip, catching fish is just a bonus. Tight lining is my “go to” but when that’s not working I want every available option at my disposal. Everything is caught, handled with care, and released. Don’t care if it’s a stocker or wild fish. Who knows, someone else may be after their first fish and catch one I released.
There’s honestly nothing quite like standing almost waist deep in the middle of a river with the fog so thick you can barely see your sighter and seeing that sighter move ever so slightly or feel that subtle take and setting the hook on a trout. Generally if it heads to the surface it’s a Rainbow that likes to dance. If it bulldogs down deep it’s that Wild Brown I covet. Either is just icing on the cake of the beauty that surrounds me.
I could spend an entire day and not catch anything and still have the best trip, lol.
 
One morning trip below the dam at Branson, really foggy and blue herons sitting in the trees, slow water. What a relaxing time.
