It was favorable!

That would have been "NASTY" if the wind had been wrong!
But I'm sure if it had been wrong, my partner would have had a laugh that would last a while!
 
Vmax7 : A friend of mine had a 22-250 in the early 70's and brought it down to show me how it shot. We drove around on a ranch and shot Jack Rabbits . This was to first 22-250 I had ever seen or shot .
It totally blew up every jack rabbit we shot , I mean each rabbit , nothing left but bloodspray on the ground and maybe a small piece of an ear or foot, no carcass ,totally gone . I had never seen such devistation by a small bullet before or since .
I purchased a 22-250 shortly after that and have handloaded for it but I have never been able to duplicate that load . I don't live where there are any Jack rabbits now but I have shot a lot of small game and last summer went Prairie dog shooting and did make several of them disappear but there is a lot of difference between a jack rabbit and a PD.

Here's two of 54 chucks shot that afternoon by two of us. These two were victom of my .375 H&H and 235gr Speers and a case full f IMR 4350. The second pic chuck went airborne for at least eight feet and turned inside out.

Here's mine guys. Coyote that I popped while he was attempting to make his getaway back in February! Unfortunately for him I'm not that great of a shot, and didn't hit him in the chest as I had planned....that or his running caused his head to bob into the path of the bullet. Either way, not his lucky day.

22-250 with Winchester 45 grain HP's.

It actually happened last weekend. 100 yard shot at a Jack Rabbit from my CZ 527 Varmint. When I walked up to the Rabbit I saw carnage everywhere. Upon closer look, there were several rabbit babies located around the rabbit I shot. I couldn't believe it. It was pure carnage. I actually blew the babies right out of it. I'll probably go straight to hell for saying this, but it earned my rifle the nickname "The Coat Hanger" I do have pictures, I can PM them to anyone interested. The pictures should not be posted here.

nice work cz I did the same thing last late winter with a prarie dog lil pups every where oh by the way the pups are out not in great numbers though givem another week

If you posted the picture purely for BDA purposes, it looks like a 55 Grain V-Max in a 22-250 is a little destructive on fox. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

This isnt a varmint pic and I didnt kil her with a varmint rifle but this is a pretty nasty pic of a doe I shot last year. I shot her in the mouth at 103 yards (rangefinder) with my 7mm Remington Magnum. I was shooting 150gr Remington Core-Lockt bullets. The only part of her I saw was hear head so I aimed for her nose and this is what I got...

Bayou, I'm still against it. If it would have stopped I'd be a much happier person. But, for an educational purpose, There's my contribution. I hope somebody learned something. I'm working on some custom loads for the rifle and will post the results on groundhogs when I get my day.

One time I shot a possum, came up to it and its belly was moving...I thought it was out of one of those horror movies until I saw the pouch. The thing was pregnant and had darn near 7 babies inside. All still attached. They crawled out, hairless, the eyes sealed shut and I had no choice but to one by one, shoot them with my .22 handgun. I have not since eaten my mothers ham salad. The color of the salad and the color of their bodies were identical. They oozed this yellow material after me dispatching them which somewhat had the consistency of the ham salad. I darn near puked once I realized what I'd done. We've been having problems with those darn things coming onto our porch chewing things up.

Caught a red squirrel just after it distroyed 2 downfilled sleeping bags. Shot it about 8 ft. away with my 300 Win.Mag.
(Only gun I had on hand - we were moose hunting ) Minimal remains.
 
I was bored one day while blackpowder hunting so I took a shot at a squirrel with a 54 cal BP Thompson Center with 120 grains of pryrodex and a 435 gr buffalo bullet. All that was left was the tail LOL Ain't all guns varmint guns????

the little hog was taken at 15 feet with the .308 pushing 180 gr. pointed soft pt. Corelokts. The big one fell to the .17 hmr 20 gr. xtps. Oh yeah then i hit him with the .308 just for good measure, to make sure he was securely down and not going to charge. Woodchucks are about as dangerous as buffalo when wounded, dont ya know? He flipped about 3 times in the air. lol

This is merely for bullet damage reference, and isnt mean to offend anyone =p
