The movie "Shooter"

If you like long range shooting, you'd love this movie. I've watched it a gazillion times. I do have a question, that hopefully someone can answer. Swaggert goes to talk with the gun expert (the old man). At the end of the conversation the old man rubs his fingers across Swaggerts upper palm, where you normally have calluses, then he calls him Gunny. What on Swaggert's palms would have ID'd him to the old man as the sniper? Or is that just movie stuff?

Watched that movie last night! I know what scene you are talking about and I am not sure what that was all about! I thought it may have helped him identify who the real man was, not some pencil pusher! Hard work usually results in calluses!

thats what i always thought too. if u ever saw the sniper movies with tom berenger i was always using emory board on his finger to " help with triger pull" never could see that but thats holywood. my fave part of the movie shooter is the red head. should have been nudity in that movie for sure.

The redhead in the movie first caught my eye in "We are Marshall." I am a redhead fan, but that gal looked better in the blonde wig when she went to talk to the FBI agent. Sweeeeeet.

Thats a great movie and Ive watched it manyt times. It has some parts that are very "hollywood" in it. There is a thread about the movie over on SnipersHide and some of the guys on there really rip it apart as far as the "inaccuracys" of the movie. Its sutff that I did not notice the first few times I watched it. I remember one of the things was that at the first of the movie when he is shooting at the chopper with the .50 cal he is using the gun as a bolt action and its actually a automatic version of the Barrett. I think they said it was because the blanks that were being fired were not powerful enough to cycle the action on the rifle.

You guys ought to read Swaggerts books. He has move on to fiction writing with another fella. If you like Hunter you'll like them. I think that he has three out right now.

+1
The books are almost always better than the movies. I can only think of one movie that was better than the book; "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe."

Yeah when she first appeared in the movie my mouth watered, she's a loin stirrer for sure...
Yeah Kate Mara the Brunett....she's good in transsiberian smaller part......I've seen her in
others , can't remember the titles...I think she played in some horror flix which I don't watch.
However IMO a love scene would have ruined that movie....I'm sure they got it on at some point..

If you watch the special features on the cd it tells they could not use accurate procedures for all
the sniping scenes because it's hollywood........stuff like having the mils read with the same
info that the spoter was giving out.......that stuff ain't gonna happen.....however the movie
IMO was one of the best I've seen......all action all the time.....and I do think the sub story
is the way the world works., also IMO it rates up there with Kill Bill in (sweet revenge)...
