Vandals spent the early morning hours targeting Smart cars in San Francisco Monday, flipping three vehicles in the Bernal Heights and Portola neighborhoods, KTVU reports.

The attacked caused damage to all three of the cars.

Police were investigating whether this was a synchronized attack on smart cars or teenagers playing a prank. The first incident of vandalism was reported at around 1 a.m. when the first smart car in Bernal Heights was found flipped on its roof.

Ten minutes later, another smart car was found on its side a couple blocks away. The last incident of vandalism happened around 1:30 a.m. in the Portola neighborhood at Bowdoin and Sweeny streets.

One witness told KTVU he saw a group of eight people in hooded sweatshirts walk up to his roommate’s smart car and flip it vertically.

I had forgotten about this. When in High School us boys used to pick up a teachers car and carry it a few feet and put it behind the shrubbery next to the building. He would pitch a fit and we would put it back out when school was out. We never damaged anything. Of course it was a little car of some kind.

same here, commander harris had this tiny 2 seater import & every year the kids would pick it up & put it places, but they never hurt it.

I saw this on the news this morning, these cars are taking some real damage. wouldn't surpise me if some don't end up being totaled.

Funny. But lets face it, a smart car can be totaled if it gets broadsided by a chihuahua.
