The One Mile Project.

Look in the classifieds here. A while back a fellow in NY had one for sale at a good price. He may still have it. I thought hard about it because I like that cartridge a lot, but have no need for it at all. It costs a lot to shoot even if you reload. I had one but it stayed in the safe a lot. Where I live there is just hardly any place to benefit from such a cartridge.

I went down this road a few years ago, and ended up with a full custom 338 edge. Unfortunately I built it as a hunting rifle (11 LBS scoped) and it was too much of a good thing after awhile. At the time I built this the Savage rifles were not being made yet. If I were to do it today I would probably do a Savage 110 FCP HS Precision 338 or the new 112 Magnum Target rifle. Most shoot well out of the box and it you find yourself needing more accuracy custom barrels are cheap and easy. I'd put a Ken Farrell 40 MOA base on it (think they come with a 20) and a 8-32 or 10-50 Sightron SIII LR. That set up should keep you busy for awhile.

I got to thinking that I already got $1200 dollars in the Remington 700 alone and dumping another $1000 into it is prolly not smart. So I have decided to just buy another gun, the Savage Target Magnum has my attention. Problem is I dont think they are available just yet.

BOOM!!!
End of thread.
