The ones that got away

I almost hate to post this one, as it likely to bring a few tears from a few otherwise hard men, but did you ever pass up on a gun -any gun- for one reason or another and kick yourself in the a$$ later on for not buying it or trading for it? I can name several myself. Lots and lots. Some I will post later, but I would like to hear from a few of you guys that took a pass on something and deeply regret it now. What was it, and what could you have gotten it for with at least a good guess as to what it is worth now.

This should be interesting!

I had a chance to purchase a pristine,SS HiPower (9mm) for $600 a few months ago. Wasn't a steal, but was darn sure worth that. Would've looked good next to my HP .40S&W.

Bought a Win 94 Saddle Carbine in 1987 for $125 sold it for the same a few yrs later. Someone ought to slap me for that one.

the Sako TRG 42 in 300win mag that is in my avatar could have been mine for $2000. with scope muzzle brake pipod and peltor hard case......just did bot have the money!

Yes on passing up a good deal.

There was a New Browning Double rifle on sale once, $500 off regular price (regular price was $2200 wholesale) - passed it up. That was sure a big, big mistake.

Yeah, I sold one of my 20" H bar Ar15's back when all the idiots started paying three times what guns were worth when Obama got elected. I will probably never make as much profit on a gun, ever again, but I kinda miss her sometimes.
I should have kept the money till now and replaced her with three just like her. But I spent the money on a Race motor cause I heard Obama wanted to ban drag racing...

I passed on a ruger m77 tang saftey 220 swift. It had a cheap scope on it and they wanted $275. I dont know why I didnt buy it. Just dumb.

Yep sold a remington model 700 police 1-9 twist .223 topped with a luppy mark4 3.5 to 10 on a luppy tactical base.
That gun could shoot better than i ever could or will ever be able to.
Yes that gun i really miss alot,to this day i dont know why i ever sold it.

Yep, 11 years ago, a guy had a "B" grade Rem 722 in 222 for sale that had THE most magnificent wood I've ever seen on any rifle. He wanted $875 for the rifle, and, at the time, I felt that was too much money...

98 Mauser that was tricked out. Mc Gowen .284 Winchester barrel, beautiful Fajen walnut stock, Leupold scope and mounts VariX 2, Timney trigger. Fine rifle until some lowlife POS decided he needed it worse than me. Also took a perfect condition Ithaca Model 37 Deluxe 12 ga. I bought with paper route money. I vent everytime I think about it.............

An early highwall that was restored to perfection for 1800.00 about 10 years
ago. I knew then there was 5000.00 worth of labor in it. Just had no interest
in the gun at the time, only the work. Now, it's a different story.

I sold a Beretta shotgun and bought a new one I hated the new one so I took it back to Scheels and called the guy who I sold mine to and asked to get it back. It was great, he said he understood and sold it back. I asked him how much wainting to get the shaft and he said the same price he bought it for. It was great I still use that shotgun exclusively

Out of all (over 100 that I can recall) I have regreetted selling only one, a Browning Medalist .22 Traget pistol, I almost regret, but not quite two more that I probably should have kept, a Colt Frontier Scout with a Bushnell scope and a .22Mag cylinder, the second was a Colt Model 70 Gold Cup that was just a little too finicky about ammo (no matter what I tried). So, I have been very lucky. But, I have also kept way too many!

Can't say I've had seller's remorse, but today I made the mistake of stopping by my local Scheels... They're having a great sale on all kinds of rifles, many of them very tempting!
Examples that peaked my interest(all new):
Tikka T3's in .223 or .243 for $399/regularly $529
Remington 700 sps 300win for $459
Browning Xbolt 30-06 or 270 for $499/regularly $679
Savage Predator (w/ removable magazine) .223 or .204, $499/regularly $649
TC Venture 30-06 for $309!!!! Regularly $499
DPMS Lo-Pro's for $599/regularly $729
and one used DPMS LR-308 16" heavy barrel for $799!

Don't ask how I left that store empty handed, I myself don't really know...

fall of '66...i was 17...had pockets of cash from shoveling asphalt from summer job...Browning FN in 284Win...stepped barrel...deep "lust"rious finish...$329...my dad said it was frivolous...i still grieve...check blue book

A few times I have passed, the first 2 that come to mind are #1 a 700VLS NIB for $399 a sporting goods store was going out of business, and #2 a Ruger 77R in 284 Win NIB for $225..yes $225, a local shop got into trouble with the IRS and had there shop raided and everything hauled out, after a few weeks they were getting it back a little at a time to sell so they could pay off there debt, they had 3 of them at that price, I was a young married man and didny have the money to spend, needless to say they were gone in a instant.

model 700 sendero in 25.06 for 500 bucks I just didnt have the cash but the guy who bought it because of me later gave me a good deal on another rifle so all was not lost

I've read this thread a couple times and never could think of any of my guns that I wish I had back A LOT.
I had a Colt Python that I wish I still had.
I wish I still had the 03-A3 that was still in cosmoline (sp) when my dad got it.
But one gun that does stick out in my mind was in about 1974 I bought a used 1911 Colt that looked to be in perfect condition. It was in 38 super. I was young and didn't know much about handguns or the 38 super. All I knew was ammo was hard to find and cost more than 9MM or 45 Auto, so I sold it. That is one gun I wish I had back. Not sure why, just do.
