The "PACT" dispenser/scale combo speed

If anyone is interested in the dispensing/charge weight times for the new PACT dispenser/scale combo, here is a quick run down. This will help if anyone is planning on a PACT system in the future.

For this test, I used a course powder (IMR-4320) just to see if the larger grains would jamb.

10.0 gr......22 sec.
20.0 gr......28 sec.
25.0 gr......32 sec.
30.0 gr......40 sec.
35.0 gr......44 sec.
40.0 gr......45 sec.
45.0 gr......48 sec.
50.0 gr......50 sec.
60.0 gr......52 sec.
70.0 gr......56 sec.
80.0 gr......1' 11" (71 sec.)
90.0 gr......1' 21" (81 sec.)
100.0 gr....1' 27" (87 sec.)
150.0 gr....1' 49" (109 sec.)

The charges were right on the mark (the manufacturer claims +/- 1/10 gr. accuracy). I did let the scale warm up for 20 minutes prior to testing and made sure dispenser/scale calibration was on the mark. Times were in my opinion, very fast and accurate....JOHN

I got ten that says I can dump, weigh, seat and be shooting first. Not to be a smart alleck, I had the same RCBS set up, and set it back to RCBS who promptly sent a refund, just for the reason above. When I get into loading mode, it goes kind of fast after the case prep. Butcher

I have a PACT and love it. If I am loading small charges, say .223, bu the time I seat a bullet, check the OAL and put it in a box the next one is ready. I have the newer, faster model. Not sure which one the above times came from, but I love mine.

Pretty slow! Sounds like you got a dud. My new pact will do 24.5 grs. in 15 - 18 seconds and 88.0 in 25 - 30 seconds. As far as 100 - 150grs. mine will only dispense 99.9 grs. I don't know how you did the 100 and 150?

I know a guy that uses the manual powder drop and the electronic for each round he loads. He'll set up the manual to drop around 3 grains light, and then throw the pan on the electronic for the rest of the drop. It works pretty fast that way.

I have a Lyman DPS or something like that and the powder dropping portion of my loading always seems to take forever. I'm going to do it this way once I move my reloading bench to my new area.

Mine is the new one also. I refuse to just dump powder from either of the 2 manual powder dispensers. I have baffles in both and have seen a 1/1000 maybe 1/2 or more grain over-throw, it's not very often, but any at all is too much. I only used them to get within a 1/2 gr. then would trickle each and every shell I ever loaded. Just my way to make sure that each and every round is the exact same.

No offense taken from the others making comments, but this was for those looking to purchase a Dispenser/Scale combo, and want to know just how fast they are. When I was looking into buying mine, the time it took to dispense and weight charge was not available on the models I was looking at. So, I have given that info to show that it is fast enough to place abullet in the case and seat it, examine the shell, and then place it in it box by the time the next powder charge is ready. I looked at RCBS and Lyman, RCBS was another $100.00 over the Pact, and Lyman was not much more that Pact, but supposedly slower. Considering Pact is an American Manufacturering company and it's my understanding that they make I believe RCBS's components for theirs, why go with a middleman?

Again, this was for those interested....JOHN

This is the new version, and for calibration, the manual says it will calibrate itself and will stop near 150 grains. I just punched in 100.0, enter, dispense. Right on the money. Same for 150 grains. Haven't tried going anything over the 150, just used it to see the time.

The speeds were with IMR 4320, smaller grained powder goes faster...JOHN

mine dumps much faster than that. I would be inquiring as well. As to dumping,....to heck with that. I can seat, and check for runout, then place the round in the box according to runout for either a fouling round or match/lr hunting round and the next charge is sitting and waiting for me. This is the norm while dispensing for even my 300RUM, so I would say your unit needs a tweek.
