The Phantom Strikes! well, sort of.......

Roadkill

New member
I just can't get over the hump.
Made three set's this morning with a fawn decoy and a Phantom caller, all field set-ups.
Called in a nice bear on the first, and a fox on the third, niether is in season.
Ever have it like that? You just can't kill a coyote with a new set-up,but when you finally do,things just flow after that.
I've GOTTA get that first one before the grass gets too high!

Road Kill. . .

You hang around Predator Masters a little longer and your days of baiting predators will be a thing of the past.

You keep that Phantom call busy and you'll be an old pro at calling critters in no time.

Smoke'n....

AzWill,
I'd rather hunt coyotes by calling anyday, but baiting will always be used by me for one reason. I only bait in an area owned by an outfitter friend of mine,to help the deer out. These Maine coyotes are hard on them in the winter. So, my only objective here is not fun,but to remove as many coyotes as possible,as fast as we can when winter sets in.
Every where else I hunt is by calling only. I'd say most coyotes off this area have never heard a call before,I have much better luck.
I've only been at this for ten years or so now,but it's just like everything else, the I learn about it the more I find how little I know

From what I've seen of the Phantom so far,Id have to say life for our local coyotes is going to be a bit harder now.

Guess we cleaned up pretty goood this winter.
Made an evening stand last Saturday, after half an hour had a 300 pd or so black bear come in on a tear! He was gonna eat my bambi deke for sure! I was able to stop him at 50 feet or so by switching to the pig in distress on the Phantom(I knew that'd come in handy for something) and anouncing my presence in a rather excited manner. He stood and watched for a couple minutes, deciding what to do while I did the same. Thankfully he decided to amble back the way he came, and so did I, although at a faster pace

Ah well,We're heading into the peak fawn drop,I'll get a coyote yet!
