The playa is flooded

We've had a few years of draught here, this year for most of the summer 85 miles of the Rio Grande has been bone dry. Dust storms this year were the worst in years. The monsoon season has been almost non-existent for a few years and really late this year, it finally got here. Flooding in parts of the state even within 30 miles of us but we've been in kind of a dry hole, still rms seem to wheel around outside of town or just petter out before the get here. Well they finally found us. We have a low spot behind the house that used to fill every year enough to kill vegetation then gets so hot and dry nothing can grow in it so it stays barron ground. We had a good storm last week so the ground had something me water in it. Today we've had pretty much steady rain since yesterday afternoon with some heavy showers and the playa filled.

Good news, this summer my roof was so sun burnt and deteriorating that we had the roof redone, they finished 3 weeks ago, nice to not have to walk through the house to see if the ceiling is falling. My neighbor lost his garage ceiling during the storm that hit last week.

Glad you're getting some rain, Erich; probably resulting from the storm in the Pacific. They predict we may get a little rain from remnants of the storm combining with the first norther of the year. Keeping our fingers crossed.

How did this affect the chile crop? See where the Butte is up about 8". Lots of flooding up around Quemado and Pie Town. Be safe.

The chilli crop was off like 50% due to the high heat and no water this summer. They were hoping for some fall rains to fill out some of the Chilis still in the fields. My chilis were a disaster this season, in fact my whole garden is exploding with the rain and cooler weather. Tough year.

I'm curious how it is going to effect hunting. A lot of back country roads are going to be washed out.

we're finally getting some rain in central michigan area as well. been several nice slow, extended rains over the last couple weeks. been fantastic for the food plots we put in on the 12th.

we had a nasty drought this summer... at least locally. it was wild...

every time a storm would come across, it seemed like a 30-50ish mile circle around us had a force shield over it. storms would either head north or south, and just pass right by us.

the farmer that leases our ground - thankfully is on his last lease year - put corn down this year, and is gonna get smoked on his crop between the lack of rain and the deer and raccoons. couldnt have happened to a nicer guy tbh. serves him right for coming over and planting 2 weeks after the funeral without even talking to my mom first. karma is a b!tch and all that.
