OK Guys,
You may remember that some time ago, I was given the go ahead to offer a prototype predator decoy to ten hunters from this and the coyote gods board. Eric Lenz from the tail wagger decoy has been working on a predator decoy for a long time. (too long if you ask me. I have been bugging him to get this thing into production.)
Anyway, that group of hunters was selected for a variety of reasons. I wanted some folks from different parts of the country, some folks who are active hunters, some who would be honest in their assessments and some who would make good use of the decoy. So, I picked out ten folks and those ten received a decoy to try out.
It's been a while now and they've had a chance to try them. I also received a prototype of that decoy a bit ahead of them. I've been using mine for about a year now.
I've tried many types of decoys, some freebies and some I purchased. To be fair, they all work. This one just happens to work better.
I'm not going to make this into a selling issue for this decoy because, frankly, I don't get a dime off it. But, because it's so good, I want to tell you about it.
First and most importantly, it's SILENT! While it's electric and has a motore for it's movement, there is NO noise associated with it. Other decoys I've tried were sometimes downright noisey. Not a big issue on breezy days but take one out on a dead calm full moon night and you'll be amazed how noisy they are.
One of the other nice features of this decoy is the ease. It's simple. It has to be or I don't want any part of it. You set it on the ground on it's own stand and turn it one. The first Model Eric sent me was on a stake and I couldn't get that darned thing in the frozen ground here in Minnesota. This one has a stand you set on the ground, turn it on and you are in business.
Eric's early models triggered on 8 or 16 second intervals. The field testers found this to be too slow. I agreed. Too much can happen in eight seconds. So, Eric fixed it. It now triggers in 4 seconds. Perfect.
I've had a ball with this decoy. I've had fox come up and try to attack it. Of course I wait a bit just to watch them. In fact, one of my battery packs has two holes from BB's where I ended up shooting it with my shotgun to protect it from that fox.
I'd be interested in hearing what some of you other field testers have to say about it. Feel free to either post here or send me an email at [url=mailto:foxhunter_56308@hotmail.com
