In keeping with the Iran thread, I thought we needed one on ukraine. First some history. Ukraine has 2 ethnic peoples. Western and Eastern. The eastern Ukrainians are ethnic Russians and want to and mostly speak russian. The western ukrainians are more european. So much so that western urkaine fought for the Nazis and fought against The russians and their own countrymen in the east. The division and hate runs deep and runs for the better part of a century at least. The western ukrainians have persecuted the eastern ethnic russian population for decades. Last year I spoke to a women from the donbas on a job I was doing. She left in the early 90s. She told me Ukraine would send bus loads of soldiers from the western part of the country. They would threaten people and tell them to stop speaking Russian, and ruff up the men they saw that weren't towing the line. She told me she was spit on, She told me women who weren't ethnic Russian would tell her to her face that they wished she and her baby were in a pool of blood. I asked if these guys were Azov and she said YES. She also considered them Nazis. this was here experience from 1993. so that is the back story,
For years our CIA has meddled in the politics of Ukraine. Victoria Nuland (who also happens to be jewish, LOL) is recorded discussing the CIA's pick for the next president of Ukraine. We basically installed our leader there under what they call color revolutions. This done by inciting and population and empowering opposition groups to stir up a shit storm and effect the outcome that the CIA wants. Because after all if there isn't shit storms to incite, the CIA wouldn't have anything to do and wouldn't be needed for that matter. Its job security to do this sort of stuff. It was also a way to poke and prode Putin and keep the narrative of Putin USSR, bring back the soviet union narrative, putin bad, etc.
Ukraine had been in a civil war with its eastern ethnic russian population on and off for decades. Incited and flamed by our eternal hate of all things Putin and entrenched benefactors of the eternal hate in our own government. YES people in the government benefit and indeed have jobs because of these shit storms we incite. Putin got to the point he had enough and decided to invade to protect the ethnic russian population that in his mind was being persecuted. In my view contrary to the narrative you hear. Putin has no desire to control all of Ukraine. If he did why hasn't he done so? Putins management of the war has actually been pretty measured. People have mistaken a measured approach to weakness. I think that is folly. We have to understand our leaders aren't the smartest wisest people in the room. I am sorry to crush the American ego by saying that. Putin is a pragmatic guy, in most cases our people are dumbasses. This isn't 1950's american leadership and values we are spreading to the world.
So why does our country continue to fund a hopeless war? a war that was hopeless from the beginning, a war that the outcome was always certain before it even started? Think of it as one big giant money laundering operation. When Ukraine gets money from us. Its not money in the sense of a check. Its money to purchase military equipment and other products from US companies. These companies then make sure and keep the campaign donations flowing. They also have board positions they offer to these politicians after they leave office. Lets say the board position pays several million a year and you don't really do anything for it. This is just a couple ways the grift and graft flows out of one pocket and into another. There are also other business connections related to where and how this money is used that finds its way back to family members of politicians and staffers who benefit from it. Simply put the term thrown around for all this is "deep state" which I believe is a thing. What I don't believe is there is some huge coordination and conspiracy with it. I believe it just does what it does based on the conditions that people can get away with, AND the people involved likely think their motives are benevolent. They don't see themselves as corrupt. Instead they see themselves as noble people. Its seems coordinated because patterns of how its done are mostly the same. Its would seem it would have to be coordinated, but it doesn't need to be, its simply the way washington works based on the conditions they can use for their benefit. It doesn't need a grand conspiracy or central control.
So whats this have in common with Iran. We thought we would crush Russia with sanctions and ruin their economy. Instead the opposite has happened. they are a stronger country now than before the invasion. They have cultivated their home grown economy and manufacturing base because of the sanctions and have that all in house. Think of it like going to ohio or michigan, You see factories with weeds growing up through them. You see rusty windows and what was once American manufacturing might. Think of those factories running, and not closed. That is Russia because they had to do it to support their own economy. Sanctions have the opposite effect and backfired, they are only a temporary solution and pain. Long term they backfire. Russia has an abundance of resources, They have food, and energy, All it does is make those goods cheaper for their own residents and insulated from market forces of the world. Its like buying gas in Iran for 35 cents a gallon. if the fuel could be sold on the open market, it would cause a massive price shock for the native residents. Remember we are run by dumb shits!!!
