Just brought home a new 10/22 and am wondering why anybody would even want to own this rifle. I was sucked in by the hype as well as with the wide array of aftermarket options. Surely even the stock model should be a reliable, fun gun. Not. Should have done more work on the net prior to purchase and would not have opted to buy. The bolt release is fussy, inconsistent, hard on the finger - all of which make it a huge frustration, not to mention making it, imo, downright dangerous to be using at a range. Unpredictability is not a good thing at a range. The option seems to be to spend more money (lots) to trick out this bolt release along with doing a major trigger job. I didn't expect a whole lot given the price, but I did expect something at least as reliable/functional as the Savage Mark 11 (I have one) - albeit this is not an automatic. The mag eject is also inconsistent. It will sometimes just pop out while at other times I have to scratch at it with an index finger to pry it loose. And this is barely out of the box. Can hardly wait to deal with the jams, fail to eject, etc., etc. that I knew I was probably bargaining for. Totally regret not waiting for the Savage to to come out with a Revolution stock on the Mark 11. And this is before a shot is even fired from the 10/22. The only plus so far is that it did drop right into an after-market thumb hole stock. Could I get my money back right now - not a chance and this is one huge P.O.
