I was going to place some bets on a couple of horse races, while at the track. I was looking over the schedule and calculating the spread for the odds. That's when I noticed a priest on the track, blessing the #23 horse, but the odds for that horse was horrible....like 30:1.

When the race started #23 was in the middle of the pack, but towards the home stretch #23 passed all the other horses and won by a decent margin. I thought it was a fluke, then I noticed the priest back on the track and this time he was blessing the #18 horse....again the odds were similar to the last horse 30:1. Starting out, like the previous race the #18 horse was in the middle of the pack and sure enough, down the home stretch he took off and passed all the other horses and ended up winning.
I watched as the priest was blessing the #7 horse for the next race and that's when I beat it down to place a bet on it. The man at the window said that the #7 horse was lucky to be on the track and it had 50:1 odds. I told him that I had an inside line on this horse and it was going to win and I placed $1000 dollars on #7.
At the start of the race the #7 horse was in the middle of the pack and at the home stretch he made his move towards the front. Suddenly he veered off to the side, ran into the guardrail, flipped over and slammed into the ground, stone dead.

I ran down to the track side and grabbed hold of the priest and said, "What was that all about?!?! I watched you bless all the other horses and they all won. Then you blessed this horse and it died."
The priest asked, "What religion are you, sir?"
I said, "What difference does it make? I had a thousand dollars on the #7 horse to win!"
The priest said, "Well, my son, perhaps if you were Catholic, you'd understand the difference between a blessing and last rights."
