LOL A kid after my heart.
In 1968 (I was young and perhaps a bit foolish)the gun control act became law, requiring "a government issued ID w/photo" to purchase a firearm. I went in to Kmart to purchase a model 94 for my son. The clerk asked for my driver license and, instead, I laid down my US Coast Guard Tankerman's License which not only has my picture, also has my thumb print. He insisted on a driver license and my reply was, "I don't intend to drive it, all that is required is a gov't issued ID w/picture". He continued to insist on driver license so I asked to speak to the manager. After a brief discussion between the manager and the clerk, the sale was completed.
