What do you want to use it for? Hard core birding? If so, get a semiauto that'll soak up some recoil. If it's for less frequent use, there's nothing wrong with an entry level pump like the Mossberg or 870. I shoot a Mossberg 500 "turkey gun" for coyotes. It has the short ported barrel and is camo-painted. I wouldn't want to shoot heavy 3" loads through it all day, but for 3-5 shots at coyotes, it's a dandy little shotgun. Mossberg has a good reputation for being a solid, working gun. Of course, the 870 has the same reputation. Either would likely serve you well.
