Thinking of getting a new .22lr bolt action.

Find a CZ 452, new or used. If you can't find one, find any other CZ you can. Shoot 2000 rounds, or put a Yo Dave in it (same difference, just a matter of patience;) ). You can have a Savage that shoots pretty well, or you can a CZ, and have a really nice rifle, that shoots really well!

My Savage shoot's as well as any CZ I've seen.Quality wise depending on the model IMO Savage is better. The only advantage with the CZ you have a decent chance of finding one with really nice wood.

My savage mark 2 gxp cuts holes @50yds with crap remington golden bullets...i did add a rifle basix trigger as mine was a non-accutrigger model...wasnt pretty before that upgrade however. I did add DI Products bottom metal also. But for a $170 rifle and adding $125 worth of parts to it i am VERY pleased for what i have in it. Its my squirrel slayer.

Quoted for sheer humour.

Billysdad I own a CZ to.While their rifles are known for great out of the box accuracy the same can certainly be said of Savage. The soft flexible black plastic stock on Savage rimfire's blows. No two ways about it.But their wood stocks are just as good or better than CZ.The action and triggers on every bolt action CZ I've handled including my 527 American felt very rough in comparison to Savage'.The wood to metal fit is better on Savage as well.

To each their own, I reckon. I have never touched a Savage anything that I would call "nice," their rimfires most especially. Every single one of them feels incredibly cheap to me. I suppose thats why there are so many options, everyone has different tastes.

Check out the new xt Marlins, adjustable trigger too, reworked bolt for shorter throw, lot nicer looking guns than just a few years ago.

I got three of the new production CZ 452 Americans that Whittakers just got in. I bought one for myself out of the first batch. Then my boys saw it, and wanted one as well. So, I ended up ordering two more when the second batch came in at Whittakers. I can't believe how they shoot!! All three shoot VERY well.
