This brass shortage is worse than I thought.

I have been retired for about 3 years from LE. I went to our range today for my annual qualification. While I was there I was going to liberate a couple hundred pieces of 45 brass as I have decided, because of the current madness, to start reloading 45. We have about 35 agencies that shoot on our ranges and they have always left their brass in the past. Thus, we have always had barrels of 9mm,40, 45,and 223 just laying around. After we accumulated so much, we hauled it to the local scrap metal dealer. Not any more. The range master told me that all the agencies are taking their brass with them now. The range master also said that the department is having a hard time buying 40 and 223 to train with.
My question, will it ever get back to normal, or is this the new normal?

Im still lucky as my son who is in LE is still able to rake up all the brass at the ranges they have to qualify at. He sells it as they would normally leave it or trash it where he is at.

I have a buddy that is LE. He's told me that his dept has cut back on training and practice due to ammo shortage. I don't care what anyone says, the government is causing this shortage and not by coincidence. When you think about ammo companies manufacturing capabilities, the math just doesn't add up.

You've got it! The majority voted for change and see what we all got. But don't forget, we'll all be safer now and we should trust the man in WA more because he knows whats best for you. OH YEAH!
