Decided to upgrade from last year’s setup…I had a Weatherby Vanguard 350 Legend w/ a
Leupold 3.5-10x40 VX3HD Firedot…Was never super happy with the accuracy, best it did was around 1.5” @ 100yds.

Tikka finally started chambering 350 Legend, so got a wood stocked Hunter Model on sale from Euro Optics and had it threaded. Upgraded bottom metal and recoil lug to Mountain Tactical.
For scope, I wanted something for Low light, so got a Schmidt & Bender Polar T96 3-12x54 and mounted it in EAW Blue Line 34mm Medium Rings and mounted on an EGW 0moa rail.

Haven’t shot it just yet, but I’m expecting it to perform better than the Weatherby

I've seem comments ".the 350.Legend is the new 35.Remington "

About five or so years ago I wanted to buy my dad a new deer rifle and decided to try something new. Since most of our shots are under 100 yards I ended up buying him a Ruger American Ranch in 350 legend. After we both shot a few deer with it I liked it so much that I bought myself a CVA Scout 350. If you live in a state like I do where they are no straight wall laws you really don't gain anything over a 30-30 or various other rounds, but it gives you a reason to buy a new rifle.

Most of my shots on deer are 40-60 yards. I use the 150gr Winchester DeerSeason Xp's and behind the shoulder shots are awesome. They usually fall within 25-35 yards. Even the frontal shots I've taken only made it 30-40 yards. My dad shoots the 180gr Winchester PP's and get's the same results.

Nice looking rig. Are you in a state that limits cartridge choices?
Yes Maryland, unfortunately straight wall or slug guns only during firearms season.

My max distance for shooting is 150yds, but most is around 80yds max.
Scope is extremely overkill magnification wise, but I’ve wanted a S&B for years and got a great deal. Other purpose was wanting the best Low Light scope I can afford.
Cost anxiety aside, it will last me the rest of my life. I def had some buyers remorse but I’ll get over it.

I’ve had to pass on two 140-150” class buck over the last 2yrs because I just couldn’t see quite well enough. If had just a few more minutes of scope clarity it would have happened. Hopefully this remedies that scenario. Both blinds I use are in heavily wooded areas that visibility gets very dark well before shooting hours end. Illuminated reticle is necessary

I would say 350 Legend sits in-between 30-30 and 35 Remington performance wise.
I have killed 3 deer previously with the Weatherby. None went over 30yds. So very pleased with the cartridge.

Another reason for doing this rifle is I wanted something very European as I wanted to do a sort of tribute to my grandfather that raised me and taught me to hunt and fish. He was German and he used a 35 Remington in later years. He’s been gone since 2020. But I know he sees me and is with me every year.
I don’t have any children to pass it down to, I’m the last one.

I lived next door to my Grandparents (Mom's) side. I sure shot a lot of bullets and loosed a lot of arrows on their farm. Grandpa passed in 2020 at 97. I sure miss that old man, he was my best friend !
