I don't own a .308 but I have had one in a .243 for the last couple of months. I may have put a hundred rounds down the pipe so far, that is just a guess but certainly not more than 150.
Pros:
1. I believe it to be an accurate gun. That of course can be subjective to the shooter and relavent to the shooters abilities. Below is a 100 yard three shot group. I know the arguement for shooting five and ten shot groups, I have no problem with that logic, however I do believe you can get a feeling of the guns potential from viewing this target especially when it was shot from a rickety shooting station.
Here is a five shot group, shot from three hundred yards. I will take credit for the flyer on the left. This is a fairly typical group at three hundred...I have seen the rifle and the shooter do better, but it gives one an idea of the gun's potential. Again shooting from a less than stable platform and not in the best of conditions.
2. I found the fit and finish on my rifle to be very good. I was a little concerned about this because I bought the gun "sight unseen" over the net. I had heard some negatives concerning this area before I bought this one. I would give their workmanship good marks.
3. The action on the rifle is what I would consider smooth. When I first got it I thought it was stiff but it as smoothed out nicely.
4. Weight. There is a further explanation of this on the "con" side but I don't mind a rifle that has some weight to it. I won't be lugging this thing up a mountain (I bow hunt) and would be shooting for the most part off of sticks at ranges where I don't feel comfortable with the .223 in pursuit of Wiley Coyote.
Cons:
1. The Trigger. It is suppose to be an "adjustable trigger". They supply a tiny allen wrench to lower the trigger weight from the factory setting. I couldn't do much with it. It is in a tight fitting spot under the back end of the bolt and when I did get the wrench in the "slot" the tiny wrench simply bent.
2. The Clip. For the life of me I don't understand why a company would manufacture such a fine piece of equipment, put the price tag it does on the rifle, and stick a polymer/plastic clip in it. I suppose I should mention that I haven't had any trouble with it (why should I, it is new, right?). I have a Savage that is less than a year old that came with a mostly metal clip and sometimes it doesn't want feed the last round into the chamber so perhaps this polymer issue is moot.
3. Weight. I have a Bushnell Elite 6500 4.5 X 30 with a 30mm tube mounted on this rifle, it is a big heavy scope. The total package comes in at around 12 pounds. For a lot of people this kind of weight would be a deal breaker. For me personally it isn't an issue.
I have no problem recommending this rifle, I am very satisfied with mine.
Good luck
