Those damm 788's

I did the same thing. Loved that little deuce but got an offer I couldn't refuse and 223 brass is so easy to come by. Originally Posted By: Brad PhillipsI had a 788 in .222 once, sold it in a moment of complete stupidity. Man I wish I had that rifle back.

There was a 222 in the local pawn shop around Thanksgiving for 325 with an old bushy 3x9. Looked to be clean. The stock was not dinged up. If I had known that it had a cult following here I would have picked it up for someone. I will swing through monday and see if it still there.

I have one in 308 I got after a brother-in-law passed. I haven't found a factoy load that doesn't shoot better than me. I do want to find a nice little 2-7-32 scope instead of the old 4x Tasco that is on it now. I picked up a couple magazines in November from Brownell's for around $45 each. They seemed to work just fine at the range during sight-in.

I know a fellow that bought one in .222 last year. He paid a whooping 225.00 for it. Nice shape, looks to have been used very little. Some people have all the luck.

I would take a 788 over a 700, any day, at any price.

The boys will fight over it.

I don't know if I've ever heard a more accurate description of the 788... EVER!

Funny, but you just described the most accurate and fastest locking rifle Remington ever made to the present day. Scoff, if you will, oh foolish one. Hicks Unite! She might be ugly, but she's my girl. Bring on your beauty queens. She'll out dance them all.
