Thoughts on Dr. Martin Boots, steel toe...

Foxy's thread got me wondering about boots. I get a new 100.00 reimbursment pair this month from my job and yesterday I tried on a pair of Dr. Martiens and they were pretty nice on the feet. I'm used to Bates Enforcers and Wolverine Durashocks, does anybody have any experience with Doc Martins?? Thanks in advance.

Had a pair of Docs for almost 8 years before they gave out... if you're wearing them for work for extended periods of time, I think you'll like them; depends on what type of work you do(?)
 
I've had a couple of pairs. Their works boots are way too heavy to wear all day if you cover alot of ground like I do. You will not wear them out tho.
 
My kids used to always want Dr. Martin's shoes and boots. I just don't get it. IMO, they're made for people walking/standing around. I never found a pair that was comfortable. IMO, they're not made for regular outdoor use on and off trails.

I've seen some last for ever, I've also seen some fall apart quickly. I've used steel toed boots as required for work, and really hate them. The toe isn't comfortable. It gets very cold, very fast in the winter. Just me, but I don't like them.
 
I've given up on the Doc's. I'm pretty sure I'll go with the Danner ST's. I move around alot and I need lightweight and comfortable. Thanks guys for the info.

Good choice. I wore a pair for about a month and the footbed collapsed. I sent them to the factory and they sent me another pair which promptly collapsed again too. I sent them back in and got another brand new pair. These I sold and made my money back for buying that junk in the first place.
