I've been looking at it and can't really decide between that and woodland digital camo.... I think in woods here in the west, the darker colors of it will fit in well once the vegetation gets thick and green...
I don't us it for hunting, but for paintball i use Vietnam era and it works awesome in pinion juniper forests. With all of the horizontal branches and dark shadows i completely disappear.
I've heard if you have some certain types of Tiger Stripe from Vietnam, that it is very valuable, but dunno how true this is, I wouldn't mind having a gun painted up in Tiger Stripe.
Wow, I'll bet that catches a few eyes at the rifle range! Who cares how it shoots, it sure is pretty. I have used my brothers Vietnam tiger striped camo while archery hunting. I really liked how it felt and it wore like iron. But it did wear-out. It worked well in our Penn's woods for not only dear hunting but also turkey hunting.
Tiger stripe cammo was used in Viet Nam but eventually fell out of favor for a very simple reason. Most things in nature tend to be verticle, not horizontal as was the case of that particular cammo. No reason why Tiger Stripe (even the Viet Nam stuff) shouldn't work great for game and predators but MEN could sometimes be tipped off when their eye caught horizontal lines where nature dictates a predominance of vertical.
By the way, I love that pic of the tiger stripe (verticle stripes at that) on the rifle posted earlier in the thread! Great job! --- Mike
i keep a set of tiger stripe BDU's on hand whenever i hunt a few particluar pine grove spots during bow season. like smokepolebull said...hunting in the pines with this camo pattern is the best.
I used the original Tiger Stripe camo pattern when I first started turkey hunting. It worked GREAT! This was before the big explosion of camo was available to everyone under the sun. I bought it from a Army/Navy store at my uncle's direction. He had been turkey hunting for a lot longer then anyone I knew around my home town. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
The new digital Tiger Stripe stuff looks great as well. I think the USAF is using it as their primary camo right now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
I use the green tiger stripe and desert storm camo.
You can get it from uncle Sam but will cost you a few years of youre time or you can get it from a Army-surplus store.....
You can get it a little cheaper in some places, but it might be a knock off and not well made. I ran into that a few years ago with some BDU pants. They literately fell apart! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif I guess that is what I get for $13 a pair! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Kind of funny, we were talking about this and my two year old dug into my hunting clothing/gear closet and came out wearing this... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
He will NOT take it off... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
