tikka m595 .223 twist rate?

Was wondering what the twist rate on these rifles are? And what grain of bullet would be ideal? Thinking of shooting 55 grain softpoint.

More correctly, you need a faster twist rate to shoot longer bullets. Granted, in most cases, the longer a bullet is, the heavier it is. But not in all cases such as a VLD type bullet.

Think of a bullet as a top. The longer it is, the more spin it needs to stabilize. - BCB
 
Welcome chops and you too 11 although I think I have got you before. I am sure your 595 has a 1 in 12 unless it is one of the brand new rifles. I would not worry about the fast twist as all of mine in .223 shoot all range bullet weights well. I would not put too much stock in all the talk about what bullet is ideal for certain twists. I have used them all and it does not always work that way. 1 in 9's seem to be the most finicky as to the loads they like. They seem to thrive on 52-55gr bullets. 12's generally like 40's, 50's, and 55's. My 1 in 8's will shoot about all of them well. They like 40's up to 77's.

In factory loads Black Hills and PMC 52gr HP's shoot real well in the 9's. 55gr PMC HP's work well too. In the 40gr loads, Winchester 40gr Supreme is great but not for predators.
 
so far I have shot mostly black hills. Mainly because the other loads are either too expensive or do not group good. here is a group from my 595 tikka with a 1 in 12 50 gr vmax seconds. the 55 gr soft points do just as good
 
What is the weight on the 595? Berreta lists 6 lbs 10 oz but I have seen it advertised at 8 pounds. I can buy one new but it will be used for sage rats and the more weight the better. Thanks
