My tikka isn't grouping very good. It may be the old scope a tasco 8x32x44mm putting a nikon 4.5x14x40mm on it. Does the tikka have a 1@12 twist barrel. I have used 50 to 55 gr v max and nosler bt bullets with varget and imr 8028. Both not grouping very good. Anybody have this gun in a 22 250 could tell me what load u are using ty.

Trade it for a Tikka .223 with 1-8 twist. 22-250 has long throat. You can't seat bullets close enough to lands to be accurate. MY friend has the same gun and NOTHING shoots good in it. There ain't no such Powder as 8028

I have the exact same gun and its the most accurate gun I own. It has a 14 twist and with win brass, 50gr v-max and 36.6 gr of varget it is an honest 1/2 or less gun.

I tried a lot of bullets and powder and settled on RL-15 and 52 gr bergers. Got around 1/2 inch with this load. You really need to make sure the bore is clean and I mean clean or at least mine likes it with a clean bore

Thank ya will clean barrel again. I tried varget 36.5 with a 55 gr nosler bt. It was a 103 that day too. I used win brass and primers. Wait until the scope gets in try again. I like the gun alot hope to find a load that will work. Sorry that was imr 8208.

I shot a lot of powder and bullet combo's and could never get Varget or any hornady's to group. Ackleyman recommended Sierra semi points in 55 and 60 got some 55's loaded but haven't tried it yet. Good luck on finding the combo, but those guns are known to be accurate. Rick

I have a Kimber Pro Varmint that will only shoot H380 and 50gr Sierra BK's. Keep looking, you'll find the right combo. My dad's Tikka likes the 50gr BT's real well, it's also a .22-250.

I just loaded up another dozen or more for my Savage 22-250, but it is a 1 in 12 twist barrel. 36.5 of Varget under a 52gr Berger Match Target hollow point seated to 2.350" OAL and lit by a standard Fed210 primer is what I use - and the thing just drills! One ragged hole @ 100yards. I have a Tikka in 243win, but sorry - my 250 is a Savage Model 10 Predator Hunter Max 1. Keep trying, you'll find your load.

I would lay odds its the scope. Try working up to about 36.5 of Reloader 15 with Federal large rifle match primers and 50 grain Sierra Blitz Kings on top of it. Mine likes them seated out pretty far and shot these better than the V-maxes or Varget.

I don't know about the Tikka 22-250, but I have the 1 in 8 twist 223 Tikka. My Tikka 223 if pretty much fool proof. I has shot everythinhg prettey well for every one I let shoot it.

I believe Tikka warranties their rifles for sub one inch group, if it won't shoot they will replace it. Keep the 22-250!

varmit master, I had the same accuracy problems with my t3 22-250. I seated 55gr nosler bt's close to the rifling using 3031 powder and I'm very satisfied. check your col and maybe it will help. spike

My T3 in Varmiter had to be bedded to shoot well. I use 39. something of IMR 4350 with the Sierra 52 SMK, Russian primers, hornady cases, turned necks, seated to have .200 in the case.
The funny thing about the Varmiter is the seating depth is not so critical as they will shoot backed off, and the important thing is to get GOOD light neck tension.

I have the same gun and it likes factory 50 gr. V-Max . I have loaded several different loads and really haven't beat the factory load so far . 1/2 in. at 100 yds. Really like the T-3 22-250 !!!

I put a nikon buckmaster 4.5x14x40mm scope on it now. I got a can of benchmark powder too. I reloaded a few nosler 50 gr bt with 35gr varget with win brass and primer col of 2.350. Going to load some 50 gr v max the same way. Anybody shooting the same load what is your c o l? I am using win primers is cci better ty Richard

Loaded the 50 gr v max and 50 gr nolser bt. Win brass and primer both with 35gr varget. Shot the bt first shot a 1 inch group. Shot the v max 5 shot group u could cover with a dime. I am so happy thanks for the help special thanks to the guy as the same gun and told me to try the v max. Richard

Varmit -

Goes to show the same rifle can like different things. I have the same rifle and it really, I mean really did not like V-max bullets. I could barely keep them on an 8-1/2 x 11" target at 100 yards. I was pretty frustrated last year when trying to find a load. Someone on here gave me the tip of trying Varget with Nosler bullets. It was really good. I think my best group so far could be covered with a dime. I think there is still room for improvement. I got busy at work and haven't gotten back to dialing it in. I have messed with seating depth and found that factory length works well. Someone else mentioned it has a real long chamber, I agree, I can't get the bullet very close to the lands without it falling out. Good luck. Sounds like you are well on your way...
