Tikka t3 light!

I can't wait to get out and break in the new toy. I found a brand new Tikka T3 in .243 on sale while browsing last week. I held of and told myself if it was still there in a few days I'd go for it. So, yesterday I made the purchase. Was marked down from $499 to $399, and was the only one at that price, the rest were $499 to $549 depending on caliber. I had always wanted a Tikka but settled for my Howa last year. I'm thinking about throwing a Nikon Buckmaster 4-12x40 or maybe even the matte black Coyote Special in 4-12x40. I want to get a little more powerful scope than the typical 3-9, as I'd like to eventually use this for antelope or hogs if I get the chance in the next year or two.

I just got the T3 lite stainless in 6.5x55.
Made up some 140 gr handloads, and "without trying" got MOA at 100 yards. very pleased with it.
Cant wait to try some 100gr @3k fps.

I bought one in 300winmag last winter. Its my bear/moose gun. Love it! its my favorite rifle I own. Love the trigger and slick bolt!

If I end up liking the .243 as much as I think I already do. I plan on picking one up in .300 Win Mag as my next rifle purchase. That'll cover my bases for calibers... for now... Love the look of your stainless with the wood stock!

Lost River, how does the paint hold up on your Tikka stocks? I'm thinking that I'll give her a coat down the road.
 
what if the 6.5x55 was as effective as that .300 win mag ?

The sectional density of a .264 140 grainer is about the same as a 190 grainer in .308, the ballistic coefficient is higher and the bullet can be shot close to 3000fps in a 28" barrel provided the action is up to it... That makes the Swede the ballistic equivalent of a .300 WM firing a 190 VLD bullet

Note the 28" barrell remark though.

Yes TimberToes, the BC does make it more of a bullet than what the caliber is. The cross sectional density on certain 140gr bullets is very impressive. And if you roll your own 6.5x55's that make all the difference.... (modern rifles that is)
 
Not sure I would want to face a Big Ol Bear with it though.

Ooops on that..lol OK, I meant to add that the 6.5 I was referring to was my 6.5x55 Tikka T3 Hunter.

Yes i also have 2 other Tikkas: A 22-250 T3 Lite that shoots way better than and I can. It really likes the cheap factory 40 pack 45gr Winchesters. I also have 204 T3 Lite SS thats sitting in the box waiting on some glass. After reading the comments on the DNZ mounts, I ordered 3 of them yesterday to put on all of my Tikkas.
 
I have a T3 synth SS in 22-250.Great shooter. The only down side is that the rings that come with it suck. but the rifle itself is fantastic for the money you pay. Get a T3, you will be very happy you did!!!
 
I have a T3 Lite Stainless in 25-06 and it was a deer slaying beast this year! I shoot Black Hills Gold 100 grain Ballistic tips and it sure is a flat shooter.
