Tikka T3 Lite vs. Rem... Others?

Back Ground: I am left handed and grew up shooting right handed rifles. My wife is left handed and when we started her out, we bought her a remington m700 bdl LH. At first it was challenging for me to get comfortible with her gun. In the last 2 years I have got alot more comfortible shooting the left handed action, etc. Now it is time for me to replace the ruger m77 270 with a LH version.

At Cabelas this weekend I notived the remington is now a CDL? what does that mean vs BDl?

They also had a tikka T3 lite on the shelve in the LH model. It felt nice, but have had no experience.

so should I fork over the extra money for the Rem or use the extra for better glass a top the tikka. Also With $1100 being my top end what combonation should I consider? I am partial to the burris full field II scopres, but am also interested in other quality yet budget freindly glass.

Thanks a bunch. I know this is gonna be a lot of flip the coind talk, if that is the case the less expensive of the 2 will win.

Any other rifles I might consider? I need something light and a little rugged as I hunt/hike some pretty rough ground.
 
CDL is classic or custom deluxe. Usually better fit and finish and grade A walnut stock.

Tikka are said to have ball bearing like actions, but the plastic can be problematic. But the are work arounds.

For me, I have always wanted a CDL. I just can't afford one.

The Tikka is hard to beat for the money. My 7mm wears a zeiss conquest 3-9 that I also consider a great value. This combo would leave youi with money in your budget for ammo.
 
Tikka T3 Hunter in 223, it's my go to coyote gun and has been out in all kinds of weather with no issues. Second best "out of the box" accuracy gun I've ever owned.

I used to bleed Remington green, now because I was less than thrilled with them of late I don't own one.

Tikka T3 lite and dont look back. I just purchased a remington 700 .221 fireball, and I also have a remington 700 30-06.I like them all but the Tikka was less money. I cant speak for the .221 yet but the Tikka does outshoot the 30-06 lol.



 
I'm a Remington man from way back. I've had both Remington and Tikka,and still favor the Remmy. The Tikka is well worth the price as far as an out of the box hunting rifle. Remmys may need a little T.L.C to get them where I want them,but it's worth the time in my estimation. I will however always vote for the best glass you can afford. A $3,000 custom rifle is still only as good as it's glass. The last time I was shopping for a rifle (last fall) the Savage 16/116 stainless was fairly budget friendly. Will likely out shoot either of the other 2 out of the box. It's butt ugly,doesn't feel as good in the hand as the Tikka or the Remmy,but they do shoot well. Sounds like from your position the Tikka is the way to go. Take a look at the Ziess Conquest line of scopes. Being that the Tikka comes with rings,you may hit your buget if you can find a deal online for the Conquest. I love shopping for rifles! Have fun buddy and let us know how it turns out.
 
Id vote Tikka as well. User friendly adjustable trigger, and it shot well right out of the Box. My Remmy with a lightend trigger and a $220 aftermarket stock still does not shoot as well. "Yet" However Im still playing with it. Good luck with your choices.
 
I love 700s and tikka t3s. personally i dont think i would ever own a cdl because it is just too nice looking to hunt with. wouldnt want to scratch that nice stock. the tikka is less money and a great gun.
 
I have a 22-250 tikka that is an absolute tack driver. I've owned both rifles you mentioned and I would take a tikka 10 out 10 times over a remington. For a factory rifle straight out of the box they have a smooth as glass bolt, the trigger is adjustable and can be set pretty light without purchasing a aftermarket job and they are light to carry around so they won't wear you down. Oh yeah did I mention that they are shooters.......
 
IMO you stand a better chance of getting a great shooting rifle with the Tikka. Other than adjusting the trigger, the Tikka probably won't need much else.
 
i have bought three Remington's in the last year and none have shot worth a crap without alot of load work and new triggers. I cant wait to get my Tikka to shoot it
 
You couldn't give me a new Remington 700 unless it was an upper end model Sendero, PSS, or 5R Milspec. Remingtons quality on the lower end 700 guns went to crap.

ADLs and SPS are only good for donor actions. Many have rough barrels, rough chambers, bad crowns, bolt timing off, poor/mediocre accuracy etc etc.

I owned 5 Tikka's and although I don't care for the tupperware stocks (which I change out) all have shot groups with handloads that will make you go WOW.

I never had to change the stock on My Tikka.. I just adjusted the trigger to My liking, and Killed Coyotes.. Have killed Ground squirrels out past 275 yds as well. Not bad for an out of the box gun. Its a 223 and loves 40gr Bullets. Good luck.

I bought a Tikka 270 WSM only because of the accuracy, knowing it's a light weight gun, hoping to have a hunt that took me many miles and hopefully 1 or 2 shots to make it happen. The bolt action is the best, accuracy top notich@@@

I wasn't dissapointed, if you want to shoot a box of shells at a target there are better options! Mine kicks but the limbsave helps a lot, 20 rounds, my shoulder is still very good.
What do you want to do with the gun?

I'll never get rid of the Tikka 270 WSM in my arsenal. I love it!!!!

Tikka T3 lite is just like a lite weight shotgun, It's gonnahurt with a nice outing.

A remington rifle is what is missing in my collection, so I might not be the best response. I love my Tikka!
