Its been a long four days, but Ive been working on my bedroom floor non-stop since Monday night. Except for Wednesday. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Anyhoo, its coming along really well. I have to install the grout tommorrow, then sealer then done.
Im installing Ceramic tile. I mixed it up. Two tiles in the assortment have a "slate" appearance although they are ceramic. I have some of those in Red and Green.
Then there is a smooth ceramic, it is a moderate shade of yellow with black and brown accent marks through it. Then there is another smooth tile, this time it is a lighter shade of yellow and it has accent markings too.
I did a staggered-offset installation, I didnt want the grout joints to be a perfect checkerboard. And I alternate the colors Red-Green-then a yellow as I worked across each row.
It sure looked cool when I finally stood up /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I chose black grout for this one, it seems like all the houses here use the tan or grey or brown, and I wanted something that would contrast the tiles a bit.
I saw i Home Depot where they were charging 3.60/sq. foot to install tile for you. I thought that was kind of high, so I did it myself, and now I know why they charge what they do. It sure is a lot of work, constant aeorbic excercise, mostly with the floor prep and cleaning. I did more of that than anything else.
That was in the bedroom. The next floor will be the hall floor, and on that one I am going to install a tile border with laminate wood flooring in the middle.
