Time crunch

Loaded my boy in the pack this morning and went to hit some stands before we have to be back for a birthday party. Promised my wife we’d be back before noon so we got up early and hit the road.

I wanted to hike into a spot before the deer hunters start pounding it and shutting the calling down for a while. Jax and I blanked on the first stand but I saw two coyotes running on a hillside about 3/4 of a mile away. So we loaded up and made a move on them.

I haven’t played the rabbit in so long but I gave it a go this time and had 3 different coyotes coming in from different directions. A group of cows ran off the first one. That coyote straight up turned around and hauled ass out of the area. Not long after, I was in the binos trying to range one a little over 600 yards when Jax actually spotted a hard charger by the call. I’m so freakin pumped that he’s actually paying attention while on stand! We got him stopped at about 200 yards and I put him down with the Seekins 6 creed. The other one in the distance wouldn’t stick around for me to send a long shot.

After we got done, I made him go find his coyote and try to drag it back with his HOM drag.

We blanked a couple more sets then started shooting rocks and he he suppressed pistol for a bit.

I’ll take 1 coyote with him over a 10 coyote day all day long.
