timney trigger for savage axis

Chuckle, doesn't take much for a replacement trigger to be better than the factory trigger on an Axis.

Sorry, do not have an aftermarket trigger on my Axis, I just replaced the trigger spring and polished other parts to improve mine. Still not as good a trigger pull as I'd like, but adequate for my needs/wants.

But, have installed timneys on three or four of my rifles and they all definitely improved the trigger pull.
 
This axis belongs to my son who is a deer hunter and he`d like a 1.5 pound pull on the axis since the rem 700 he also owns has a 1.5 pound pull. I think I`ll put the timney on the axis since there`s some good opinions so far. RCM
 
IMHO, 1-1/2lbs is way too light for a hunting rifle. Too much chance of a negligent discharge. 3 to 3-1/2lbs is much more appropriate, especially for a youngster. The Axis trigger can be worked to provide a crisp 3-1/2lb break. Timney is a great trigger. Check Rifle Basix, as well.

For the guy who picks up his rifle two weeks before the season and checks zero- I would completely agree with this statement. For the guy who sleeps with his rifle and learns it like the back of his hand, 1.5 lbs is not going to be a problem. I am going 1.5lbs in my new .308 this year.
 
We did the spring adaptation on Youtube and our Axis our truck guns and we have not had 1 problem with them, they are around 3lbs also or a little less.We trimmed the spring the replacement springs did not work as well for some reason.
